Tuck this away for later...

Hey Phil and gang,
glad you guys are OK. Long days are the norm on the TAT, especially when you need motels (not camping).
Hang in there!

I know this is a long way off for you, but I finally have that video from eagle canyon (the moab to richfield UT day on the TAT).

Here. (scroll down)

black dragon wash is here.
cat canyon will be coming up shortly.

Anyway, that's something to check from a motel with good internet, later down the line...
just wanted to put it here for your future reference,
as I know you don't have time for reading reports right now.

You're doing great!

Love your posts. Had friends do the TAT a couple years ago right after I did the Continental Divide Ride. Don't know where you are ending up but if you find yourself anywhere near Yosemite let me know, We have a guest room and can show you around. Larry 559 877.4514

Jeez, LittleWan, I watched that Eagle Canyon in HD and a couple times got the carp scared out of me. You guys ride that KTM 2 up better than a lot of peeps (including me) do solo!

Today we finished off Arkansas and crossed into Oklahoma. Our first section was Warloop road. That has an interesting downhill rocky stretch. Dont think i'd get up it 2 up with gear tho.The rest of the morning was on more neat Ozark roads.Beautiful country. We had a close encounter of the Deer kind. We've seen lots of deer every day and today on ran in front of us. Full HARD on the brakes and bracing for impact but it managed to go about a meter in front.
To keep in sync with motel stops this meant another 150 miles in Oklahoma to get to Bartlesville. There is some nice riding in the first section of OK. Fast smooth gravel. towards the end we started to get a taste of what a lot of OK is like. Looooonnnngggg straight roads.

Loving the ride report and photo`s so far.

Phil, I thought as a DR rider from way back you would have long ago bypassed the clutch switch along with the side stand switch.

Lucky it was a nice and easy fix.

Bartlesville? Sounds like a cool place. I'd better go and have a look myself one day.

Good stuff guys. Keep the reports coming. This ride is on my bucket list.

Tonight we are in Liberal, Kansas. 2 long hot days through Oklahoma. The first Section yesterday out of Bartlesville was neat. It had meandered its way through some undulating terrain but all to soon we were on long straight roads. The road surface changes between gravel, dirt, sand and variations on those. Some of the sand has a hard base and some is deep soft sand. That caused a few wobbles There is a lot of sand past all the new oil fields near Alva. We got into Alva and looked for a motel but the oil companies have all motels booked. The place is having an oil boom.
A local guy spotted us outside the info centre and showed us to a B&B. This turned out to be an awesome place.
It rained overnight and we were a bit worried about the dirt roads but they weren't too bad and it kept the dust down on the gravel. The first part of the day was through some cattle ranches on narrow winding gravel roads. These were fun and could have happily ridden roads like that all day but soon enough we were back on to long straight roads again. The last one this Arvo was 24 miles dead straight ! ! And did I mention hot. The temp gauge on my speedo is a bit optimistic but it was up to 45degC. The temp on a building in Alva was 95f (35c) when we arrived. We were told today, "lucky you weren't here 2 weeks back, it was 115f (46c) day after day" Hot enough to fry Kiwis coming from 12c (53f days)
Tomorrow we should make New Mexico and maybe even Colorado. Then we plan a day off to rest and have a clean up. Riding gear is getting a bit "nasty" ! Then I can post some more pics.
We've had a wicked thunder and lightning storm here tonight.
Sleep time again

We left Tellico the same day as you. Enjoying your ride reports. We probably won't catch up b.c we are taking our time and our seat aren't as comfortable. We are on the Mississippi River now and ride again tomorrow. Love to hear about any cool spots to visit or stay at along the way.
