Fly to Vegas, Mopeding / Scooter to Zion--Brian Head--Etc

Is this feasible? I already booked a plane. I will be in between jobs from the 13th to the 19th of Feb.

There are side roads from Vegas to Zion right? I am not really worried. It appears one does not need any registration which will be nice. I plan to fly in, scour craigslist the day or two prior for a scooter. Then sell it before flying out.

Does anyone live out this way and have a scooter for rent? But I could buy it first just in case I wreck it?

Any tips tricks are greatly appreciated. I am going to bring a tent and some clothes, which is about it.

Enjoy!

Google Maps is your friend. Look around to make sure the roads are paved (if you need pavement).

Checking the weather is paramount. You gain a lot of elevation heading east to Utah, so the temperatures drop and the likelihood of encountering snow and ice increase.

Sounds like the OP is totally unprepared for this journey. Hope we don't read about you in the springtime...

Preparation

100% unprepared, but ready nonetheless... I think I might just catch the bus from St. George. It will be mostly play it by ear.

I am going to bring a tent, a few clothes, and see what happens. At worst I rent a car and do it that way.

Side Note: I live in Wisconsin so any cold the desert tries throwing at me should be fine, especially after this Winter ahhh

Shuttles

Looks like Shuttles are a legitimate option to get to Zion and the Ski Resorts up by Brian Head and Eagle Point so maybe the mopeding option will get shelved... any preferred shuttle providers?

You might get some resistance taking the scoot on I15 out of Las Vegas. There is shoulder the whole way except in areas of the Virgin River Gorge which you can bypass on the last exit before you go in the mountains.

It is pretty much all uphill to and in Utah. The bike will struggle.

Don't get one of the cheap Chinese junk pile scooters that plague Craigslist.

I see a van with a trailer shuttling constantly to St. George/Vegas. St. George Express maybe? Can't vouch for what they have going on though.
