Homemade Bar Risers

Hi Everyone,

I have been poking around, looking at different bar risers popular for the GS. I have liked having them on my bikes in the past for longer trips, and I think 1" or so would be good for all riding on my 700GS.

In my box full of old bike parts I have a set of risers from my 02 Honda 919. It looks like one of the previous owners had them made or made them himself on a CNC machine. They don't look manufactured.

I have not tried fitting them on my GS yet, but held it up next to the existing bars and it looks like they will fit, likely just made to fit a 7/8" bar, not specific to the Honda 919.

Would anyone have a hesitation for using this style of riser on the GS? From the risers i have looked into (, the are certainly a different style.

Main issue aside from the bar size will be the bolt hole spacing. If they fit, I see no reason not to use them.

Nothing wrong with home made machined bits. I made my own risers and top clamp last year to correct the bar position after installing a steering damper.

I put a spare Honda set on my 658. Bolt spacing is a touch wider (maybe 2mm, can't remember) but there was enough meat to file out slightly.
