It's a good thing you didn't get that 750 Turbo when you were 19--you'd still be in jail

and they'd never give yer license back

Who hasn't wanted a 750 turbo, or a ZX-10?

You were in front and I was legal.
I called the court in Ashville and they said to wait until I received a hearing date. I haven't heard anything yet how about you?

The year was 1983, and I was living in Bossier City LA as Pee Leak's nemesis. Kawi debuted their 750 Turbo that fall IIRC, advertising a 10.99 1/4 mile time, the first factory bike to break the 11-second barrier. I drooled over the ads in Motorcyclist and Cycle World.

Just down my street a ways there was this fella who had a CX500 Turbo, which I thought was the coolest bike I'd ever seen in my life.

And then another fella around the corner from my house got a V45 Interceptor. And as cool as that Turbo was, there was something about that V-4 mill and perimeter frame that made me think, undeniably, this is the coolest bike I've ever seen! And it sounded waaaaaay better than the Turbo, too...

Ya know something, that 'Ceptor has really aged well. It still looks like a modern sportbike to me, aside from that 16-inch front wheel. That old 500 Turbo, however, looks like something out of the movie Tron (the original, not the remake). It looks cheesy, overdone, and when I see it I hear Skid Row singing "I Remember You." That bike's sort of a rolling homage to the 1980's. Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess...

And now I ride a KLR. The End.

Hey ya know what--I remember when the KLR650 first came out back in '87, and I even remember reading the "First Impression" road test in my high school library. They called it a "triple purpose" motorcycle, dirt/street/touring. I thought, that's cool as shit! And I figured I'd get one, someday. I always liked dualsport bikes, and always wondered why they're not more popular than they are.

I tell y'all what--Kawi needs to get off their collective ass and make a factory dirt Ninja, troof. With spoked wheels, please

And they ultimately couldn't afford the third purpose. Typical KLR
