I guess I'll put up some pics. Here we are getting ready to leave Special Ed's crib.

Poof, just like that we are at camp. My camping arrangement.

EffenSteve and Special Ed's home away from home.

Our first nights sunset.

The next morning the DR is all clean and shiny with new shoes and is ready to rip!

These two aren't ready to rip yet.

The first thing worth taking a picture of:

On with day one. What do we have here? Horsies with mail have passed this way before.

It was a fun road to get to this point. Up a canyon two track with twists, turns, ups and downs, sliding around turns, ducking branches, twisting the grip, grabbing the brakes, etc.

And then Steve decided we needed a break.

Special Ed is like: "No fooling, you were doing a fifth gear wheelie and set it down right on a rock? Bummer dude."

I forgot to add that this ride took place 9-26-12 to 9-29-12. On with day two. Let's start out with some critters. Four legged.

No legs. He (or probably she

) got all pissy when I stopped and said hi. I think Special Ed has some pictures of it striking at my boot.

A nice oasis in the desert in Diamond Valley.

HWY 278.

Cool town.

Telegraph Canyon-Overland Pass

Nice camping spot for a future camp off the bike trip. Bald Mountain Gold Mine in the background.

Just north a couple miles is another way over these mountains. Might be tough on a KLR or bigger bike but we've ridden it west-to-east 3 times now. Not on the maps or GPS but follows an unlikely drainage to the summit of the north end of the range then along the summit ridge south before dropping down on the eastern slope and eventually to the PX route.

We did it once where the whole east side was knee deep with purple and yellow lupine in full bloom.

It must not be too bad of a road, when I looked on Google Earth there is a pickup parked about where you took that pic. The Google Earth date is 10-7-12, just after we were there.

Really nice people. I spent a weekend there and went to a steak feed and show put on by the locals in that Opera house. It was a lot of fun.

Just north of there is a great little store and mercantile. The owner, a lady, has some of the nicest Mule deer trophies that she took hanging on the walls.

We headed west on day three.

We brought that smoke down here from the Idaho fires I guess.

Looked like they were doing some exploratory drilling up there. We saw a lot of these rigs on this trip.

Right after this spot we ran out of public land to keep heading west so I made a command decision to head to Austin.

We were going to head there on day four. My quote was something like this: "I'm hungry, how's about we go to Austin for lunch. Warning, It's going to be a long day and we probably won't make it back to camp til dark".

Nice Whoop-De-Doos! McGinness Hills Geothermal Powerplant.

Made it to Austin for lunch.
