which R1150GSA repair manual should I get

Hi All
I'm new to the GS world, I've ridden a 97 f650 for years (which I'll probably never sell). now got myself a 2003 R1150GSA and I'm looking for a service/repair manual. didn't find a specific one for the GSA, where can I get one? don't mind buying it.

Thanks

Haynes makes a decent paper manual. Also, get the PDF of the factory manual. The Haynes, or Clymer, manuals are full of good info and bad specs.

Jim, where can I find (linky) the factory manual for a O4 GSA (need to take out the tranny and address some hydraulic cluch slave issue). I have the Clymer and the Haynes + the CD PDF R1150GS from 2000, but I would need the CD PDF for the winning servo brake bike. Thanks

There are a few to choose from. The forum rules prohibit linking to copywrited items like manuals, but this should help.

You need two resources:
The factory manual, either digital or paper - the factory guide covers EVERYTHING that can be repaired on this bike, but it does not provide step-by-step procedures. Think of it as the big picture manual, where you get exploded diagrams and service limits.
Then you'll want either the Haynes or Clymer (my preference is Clymer) for the step-by-step disassembly and reassebly instructions.

Jvb dvd

This is essential. Especially if you have never seen it done firsthand. The disk will instill a lot of confidence.

Thanks for the answers.
I downloaded the factory manual and bought the haynes manual on ebay.
now I'm thinking to buy the rider's manual from a&s: http://www.ascycles.com/detail.aspx?ID=43194
I wonder if its worth it, I want to know things like what are all the indicator lights and how they work, how to adjust suspensions etc.

Do a google search. You can download the owner's manuals for free, legally.

Go to this link (www.bmw-motorrad.com). Put in your VIN and it will take you to the appropriate Riders's Manual for your bike. Or you can pick and choose by model and year.

Thank you.
