Heya Rade and all!

I did get my underseat tank kit last week, but I haven't had a chance to get to work on it. Wednesday I had a pretty good get-off which resulted in a broken left kneecap... :( Sadly to say I haven't even gotten the bars straightened on the big girl yet, but I'm feelinng up to walking around a bit and may get out to the shop today to tinker about and maybe do some tear down and damage assessment. All is fine I think as I rode the bike for an hour after to get home, lol! Just minor cosmetic scrapes and hurt pride is alll.

I will get cracking on the tank soon and have some good pics and a write up! Cheers!

Joe

Hey from The Pamirs!

so far the testing goes good... I have some findings to the tank and other parts too, but here about the tank:
a/ the only way for air-overflow is to wire it next to the steering neck, so that is is higher than the main tank surface
b/ I went even loaded with the panniertes through big bumps and the rear wheel never hit the tank
c/ I will think to make "bigger" coil on the fuel cap - to be more use friendly in moto-gloves

Eek under seat tank

Don't look under the seat of that other ride!
That's a different type of fuel.

So long as its pre 2009, then just take the abs off. It took me about an hour and a half.
+ cost of new brake lines, and a speedo sensor

have a look at http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=919094

I see no reason why the abs cannot be taken off and everything work, it makes no sense that it shouldnt

Yes, it fits, if you DONT have ABS unit under the seat. If so, the option is to kick out the ABS as described by Bowser.

Hey there,

I am back from the trip. I let me read all the PMs and emails in next days pls.

Next week I will let produce 10-20 tanks, all with under the seat filler this time. They will be ready for shippment by Mo 23rd of Sept. The final price is 269EUR for the kit plus the shippment (46E to US and 28E to EU).

Hey guys!

I plan on picking one of these up anyway for my 05.5 950. I'm just waiting for the behind the seat filler (Thanks Rade!!!) BUT,,,I would really love to hear some input from those people who are already installing them and using them! How about it? Install pics and tips, milage, real world usage...let the reviews rip!

what is it you need to know, there are a couple of threads already on the install, which is very straight forward and takes about 2 hours or so.
As with all jobs on the ktm the time is taken with the bits you have to take off to get to the bits that you want to get to.
The rest is I am sorry to say very un remarkable, it just works, easy to fill up, the last few trips I have been using it as a large reserve tank, how much you get out depends on how you ride, but I am getting between 70 and 80 extra miles per fill up, you don't notice the extra weight at all as I say it just works, I have had no issues with tank coming loose or any problems at all.
Most of the riding has been road, combination of long runs and commuting, in very heavy London traffic,

Never had any ABS to start with but looking at pictures, maybe with the CPR airfilter it would be possible to relocate to within the frame?

Just a thought.

I am wondering if anyone has ridden their bike HARD with this tank and a new knobbie. Has anyone completely BOTTOMED the rear suspension and did the tire hit the tank? Has anyone done this with a Dunlop 908 rear (tallest knobbie I can think of?)?
