All the hotels have been full for weeks. Took me a long time to find a room. Might want to plan on a tent!

From what I gather...... Red mountain RV park will not turn anyone away in a tent. They seems to have this under best control.

Yes, I believe that's the trial. I just wanted to make sure I hit that one again this year. Thanks

Moto maintenance

We're all getting ready for RMAR and I just want to share a maintenance reminder with everyone. The attached photo shows what happened 20 miles in on a recent 300 mile ride:

The bike is a 2001 Triumph Tiger and while I knew the well lubed cable was stretching, I didn't get any feedback that it was failing until I was in traffic and the clutch lever came in but didn't retract. Do a PM check front to back, maybe pack a spare throttle/clutch cable, etc. It's not quite BFE, but I don't think there's many options for motorcycle parts in Silverton.

Thanks for your time and I'll see you at RMAR #4!

I gotta buddy that kept a new clutch cable zip tied to the one on his bike, so when it fails he simply hooks both ends up & BINGO

An old trick for the throttle is to disconnect the return cable but keep it in place to have as a spare.

And you can often get away without a clutch cable by timing your shift with RPM. It's real sketchy while descending a mountain on a big bike with a tall first gear. I had air seeping into the clutch system on my GSA at last year's RMAR. Only to find the problem after a day of putting up with little to no clutch over Cinnamon and Engineer. It got worse with elevation!

i spell it out 4u.

if there is an entry fee then it's an organized event and thus a whole additional level of government interaction and thus the "event" might not happen.

since it's a donation only then it's not an "event" and thus if you figure it out you might be allowed to attend.
