Gang,
It is recommended that you bring a GPS with you on this ride. We suggest this of every on of our Point to Point riders. I led the CAM1k group last year with an $89 Garmin ETrex Refurb...and it did ok....but a tiny screen. And I will use it again this year on my Honda. But, I just ran across this one and ordered it from my 950. It a refurb, but 1 year warrantee and a great deal. http://www.factoryoutletstore.com/de...egory_id=31216 .......

If I were to promise to run my 690 on map setting 1 (reduced power), would that qualify me to be running a bike smaller than a 650? Then I could ride with this group. I am interested in this ride, however I am not 100% commited to it yet.

Since your 08 690 is actually a 654cc, and I rode mine on the CAM last year, a 690 will do just fine...

That's a nice set-up..... A good GPS....for even an $89 refurbish can navigate one through the 1000 miles of adventure. .........

And a KOTW 1k finisher. A few years ago I did the KOTW ride, which was basically a ride (RACE - Ride and Comfort Event) that was all GPS routes. If you couldn't follow your GPS, you were sure to get lost and not make your gas refill point...... exhilarating!

We have added a couple of new riders in the past month and two are pending. That only leaves us with about 4 more open slots.
At a total of 24 riders, we will close the ride. Come join us for the fun!

The RMAR bunch rode the Kokopelli and Moab this past weekeind for a tune up to the riding year. Mac put together an awesome ride.
This year, both my boys were able to join us and we had a blast. We rode the Koko on Friday, Kane Creek on Saturday and back on the Koko on Sunday. Here is a pic of the boys and I at...."Top of the World".

I've got my KTM 525 ready to go. I put the 3.4 gallon tank on it. Giant loop bags with dry pods, renazco seat, new chain and sprockets and new tires. I also just bought a house near DIA airport and with my flexible schedule I plan on riding a lot this year. I'm shipping the KLR to maui to ride on my trips over there.

This is my ride for the CAM, although I'll be using much more compact camping gear to reduce the duffel. I keep the camping gear up top; new lightweight one man tent, pad, Exped mattress, freeze dried food, maybe some extra clothes or gear. Heavy stuff goes down in the bags. I'll be ready!
