This pretty cool. Showing the steps to the visual design and how they came to be.

"Unlike an automobile, a motorcycle is not covered with a body, so there is no clear division between exterior and interior"

GREAT article!

I just got my January Cycle World, and there is a nice 2-page write up on the CB1100 by Blake Connor. His riding impression makes it sound like a very fun to ride bike.

I keep thinking about this bike. On the face of it it makes no logical sense for me to replace my perfectly functional ZRX with what amounts to a new version of the same thing. But when I look at pictures of it, it's hard to be logical. Kind of like when I see a new Dodge Challenger... I really want one.

I hear ya brother. I am replacing a perfectly good 750cc, water cooled, fuel injected, shaft drive Honda to get this CB1100. My wife just rolls her eyes,,,,,

Your sig and profile don't indicate what this 750cc watercooled, etc... bike is. Would make your post more relevant. Inquiring minds want to know.

And I know what you mean, because i could see trading my water-cooled 1000cc, FI, chain drive Honda for the 1100 too.

I updated my profile last night because my 2011 Honda Shadow Phantom with 10,000 miles is going bye bye tomorrow morning. It was a good bike but I go through bikes like I used to go through women

It's a pity the H&Bs are slanted as it spoils the trad lines a bit. Plus I hate slanted bags...

Hepco & Becker (Its NOT Hepco Becker)

The ones shown are 30 liter. I've had a couple Moto Guzzi V11EV's with the BIG 40 liter ones which will hold a full face helmet. Cost a bit over $400 for bags plus around $300 for mounts. I'm sure Hepco & Becker will make mounts for the CB1100. They are top quality bags.

That 20L I was referring to was for the Japanese ones in the pic above - the specs are in the weblink for that photo - not the earlier pic of the H&Bs. I've got the H&B Junior 30's on the W800, can't quite fit a helmet in them but they are nice and slim and still take a lot of gear. I think they are rated at 10kg or so. I generally just have the 40L top box on and that takes the helmet fine; dump it in there when I go shopping. They are excellent bags and well worth the money; look nice on the CB1100 as well. (The full set - all racks, cases and top box - cost around $AUS1300.)

I think I want the cb1100 also. For the price, I can afford to customize. See link for example.

I'll have to figure out panniers or bags.

These 4.into 4 pipes I hope will help performance. Still waiting to find out what exactly was done.

Here's a version with a different set of panniers. Looks pretty good! This bike also has a 4-2 exhaust.
