Just head for the top of a hill.

p.s. Verizon coverage is pretty good across the area, AT&T only works inside a few select towns.....others?

Looks like an awesome ride, it's all paved? Just wondering because I'm riding up with a street bike.

11 of the last 12 miles are dirt/gravel. The alternative staying on pavement is to just follow the 19E around to Hampton like THIS google says it adds 7 miles but saves 7 minutes.

T-mobile SUX in that area (where NC, TN, KY, VA, and WV all come together).

Plan on using smoke signals.

I'm thinking about heading out after work on the 11th. Probably arrive in the area the afternoon of the 12th. Anybody want to hang out before arriving at RDV?

I am planning to head out Thursday afternoon. I will be joining GlennR's riding group Fri & Sat. I hope my body can survive the two days of torture!

Why do I do this?

Jon

FYI

I think this has been mentioned before but I thought I had better mention it again. Anyone coming from the East or South East there are only two ways to get to Black Bear on pavement. 321 from Boone or 19E from Banner Elk / Roan Mtn. to Hampton then Dennis Cove Road. The pavement ends right past Black Bear. All the roads to the east of the resort are gravel/dirt.

Carry On

Good point Mark...there's only one way to get there via pavement. Cuttle made a super groovy little map that illustrates that...."C" to "A".

If you are using a GPS and don't want to get lost in the gravel, just set your GPS to Hampton, TN and once you are there, set it to Dennis Cove Road.

disclaimer: some of the Gravel may be a bit "bumpy"

I think I rode with you a couple times, and think you would probably be fine on that 1k. Last I remember you and a couple other guys took off in a dust cloud I was not catching on my exc250!
