Just finished putting the seat cover on. I used basic trim to hold it on. It not perfect but I would say pretty damn good considering its my first go.

Got it from motobins UK. Great cover but a couple things to note. I ordered 2 of them one fro a /6 and one for a /7 and neither of them have the BMW painted on the tail end. Also they ended up being fairly in-expensive until you add shipping. Shipping was like 30$ or something. Si I guess you end up paying about $50 for one. I still have a /7 cover an seat for anyone that is interested.

A lot of people in the hotrodding world with full bare metal cars use gibbs penetrant to coat it with. Won't rust or collect dirt and you cant tell it's on there.

Found a local guy that's a distributer. Ill pic some up this week. Sounds perfect.
Also ordered my tach. ![]() Prepping to paint. Black of course. I'm not sure about using the s fairing yet but if I decide to sell it, it will be ready to go. I have the gauges and mounting hardware. Just need the windshield part, if anyone knows where I can score one that would be helpful.

You can try... http://www.bikescreen.com I think they'll have what you need for a screen. If you do decide to sell the fairing give a shout...

Quick poll. Should I paint the tank black or not?

I know that's what my issue is. Every airhead I see is black. We painted a friends last night and it was so nice and clean looking but also very much the same. Where the way I'm going looks like an old airplane. I dunno.

I'm one of the ones that tease about painting your motorcycle black. But I really feel you can paint it any color you want. It's just that some of those ideas don't come off very good. Black is easier.
Some of the OEM colors do work I think. I had a K bike that was a sort of subdued grey/green. I think it was called Maria Green. Or something like that. In the /2s I always liked the Dover White. Sometimes the Reds are nice. You can even leave the tank unpainted but I will not be able to not worry about that.

I personally think that its the pin stripping ( either tape or hand painted ) is what sets our bikes off . Regardless of colour ... A re sprayed Bemmer just doesn't look finished without them

+1 on pin stripping. Tape if you must but I'm a purest again.
How are you gonna pin stripe a bare metal tank?
