That's bingo! Plus, VME is worth much, much more than that.

And these guys weren't hooligans - they were riding sedately until they modestly popped a wheelie for the camera. I'm more concerned about the shiny pirates and their useless noise (the opposite of the purposeful noise coming from the MV Agusta).

p.s. I'm guessing they were locals.

While I admire the skill involved with a wheelie I am apposed to the practice on public streets during a VME event. Please do not F--- around on a club ride.

Nice vintage pics.
I like KTM's and wheelies but guys like that do/can screw up a good thing.
Plus no one wants to see a KTM at an event like this.

...Unless its a Penton Six Days enduro!

As I bumbled along on the poker run route this year, a couple noob squids passed me at least twice at over 100mph, on cafe'd 350 or 400 four Hondas. I was hoping Johnny Popo would have picked them off. It doesn't do well zipping around like that as isle residents work out their front yards.

That sounds almost as dumb as the rash of two-up Harley baggers clogging the route. I didn't want to be an idiot and attempt to pass them, but they caused quite a backup as we approached the super fun set of curves just past the Tahlequah ferry dock.

Reminder - a ginormous fuel injected cruiser is not a vintage bike ! ! !

So true. Some of those guys just don't have a clue.
Now show me a '65 pan and I'll be happy. Or a '70 Sportster, or a XLCR.

I like your style Fishkens. You too HS1370. Nice to hear it from a local's perspective. "More bees with honey."

I've been attending VME events for 16+ yrs. One of my favorite t-shirts is IoV 1996. I truly appreciate vintage bikes.
Do I own one? No, not yet. With a full garage and two young kids its just not in the cards.

I do get a kick out of reading the post event threads. Reminds me of the days seeing sport bikes parked in front of Teddy's on "Bike Night" and the ol' codgers pissing an' moaning about it.
Its the age old "young punk" vs the "grumpy old guy" scenario.

We all love motorcycles, and want to be noticed for our "unique" (fill in the blank). Which probably isn't the same as your (fill in the blank) that you are passionate for.

Regarding the guys going mono. They are extremely talented and have contributed quite a lot the motorcycling community in the PNW, and would be the first ones to lend a hand to anyone in need, even drunk pirates not watching where they are going..

Not trying to start a flame war, just throwing out an opinion.

Africa Twin...

Was I just imagining it, or was someone riding a Honda Africa Twin around at the TT?
I suppose it could've been a Triumph Tiger, but I'm pretty sure I saw an RD07 out of the corner of my eye...

Like many, even though I support IOV as a vintage/classic bike show, I do enjoy seeing the rare, gray-market, more-modern bikes that always find their way onto the island.
