it's not about tough... it's about telling me I can't do it (I just don't listen very well)

The DRZ should be ready this weekend: lowering links will be here tomorrow (hope I don't have trouble installing them), the seat is cut down and just need to be recovered, tags tomorrow....

the side-stand won't be shortened, but there's always a tree or something to help me out.

knybango, I noticed you went down White Oak Rd. Hard to believe it's state road. I saw a bear on it one day. Where's that old church looking building that back in the woods? I haven't come across it yet. Looks like a fun place to spend Halloween night!

Guess I need to pull out the camera and be part of this thread, before you guys show all the good stuff.

Planning on riding up there again tomorrow. Shoot me a pm if you can go.

Any of you guys riding up that way this coming weekend? I went out Tuesday late afternoon and scouted a dead end road, crashed, and went home. The DRZ is running too good!

I can't this weekend either. Wish I could, but I'm nailling down a wooden floor in our kitchen, tired of looking at OSB... FYI, never buy the narrow flooring. It takes forever to lay.

If you're looking for some trails that "need exploring" There are some near Mtn City and also some near the Rally site that need to be checked out. PM or call if you want a lead on them. Btw, sometime soon we guys should meet to compare maps & notes. I'm sure there's plenty of good stuff each of us can share, and plenty of boring and/or BS & dead-ends to avoid. I would love to get back some of the wasted miles & hours from riding that stuff.

Twisty pavement.

Finally got my Smug Mug account to post these photos from last weekend.

I have old barns on my ride too!

Love this road. Gaston Gange showed me this one.

Have to stop and look sometimes.

On the maps this road is still here. I think we could work on it a little and have some fun!

Looks passable.

This is all that exists from roadside.

This could be a gas stop.

New barns mean progress!

Had to go back for this.

In NC we like to have our tobacco close for after church.

One mile of gravel on my twisty pavement ride.

But you get this view!

This was a hoot!

It was next to this road.

Had to go back for this one.

I hadn't updated this thread in a long time...So here goes.
When I saw strongmendieyoung's pic of the waterfall (Laurel Falls), just walking distance from the "Black bear resort" I had go take a look for myself. The hike down to the falls is about 1/2 hour each way. (wear good shoes).

On the way down the trail..

Steep in places.

The prize.

Just remember....you may not be alone...

Been lurking in these RDV threads for a while. Great pics. Haven't been on Buffalo since the improvements.

Did a little scout riding Sat. with bigdaddy....Hughes gap road near Roan Mt.

Next, we headed up to Carvers Gap, Roan Mtn.

A little snow on the south side of Roan

Awesome visibility.

We found some railroad grade..

We rode up to Black Bear resort Rally Central.
