BMW MOA Club website???

Whats with the clubs website? My McAfee says it is bad news! I've never seen the particular warning that I get when you try to pull it up or google them? I knew they were having web issues a few days ago but never got warnings then.
It states that it- "has been reported as an attack page" I run mozilla

Chrome on my Mac is blocking it but I can get through on Safari.

When I checked the reason in Chrome, it stated that the site had been checked 4 times in the past 90 days and it contained malware.

Yep, I get a warning too. The don't put any kind of priority on protecting their web site or protecting personal data as was evidence by the hacking of their site earlier this year. But I hear the president pulls in $200,000 a year in salary. I recently cancelled my 20+ year membership.

False. All officers are volunteer positions.

My mistake and apologies regarding officers. Employee(s) perhaps?

I was president from in the mid to late 2000s. The officers and board members are volunteer positions. We do it because we want the club to function to serve the members.

The club has approximately 35,000 members at this point, I believe, which is too large to support without a full time staff to do so. The club has 10 full time employees to manage publications, web content and support, membership services, country store and all the background infrastructure that support the events the MOA runs.

Total revenue for the organization is somewhere in the mid single figure millions, much of which is generated through the magazine's advertising. The magazine is composed entirely of volunteer provided content - including all columns, reviews, tests, etc. The publication is very much about the member experience, providing something richer than yet another test of the latest GSXR.

So, to that end, you need to have someone that can operate independently for much of the year. The volunteer board determines objectives at the strategic level and the CEO, who is paid, is charged with turning those strategic objectives into operational and tactical actions. Additionally, the CEO is expected to analyze membership needs, operations efficiency and financial situations and make recommendations to the board about solutions.

This is a level of responsibility equivalent to a CEO position in a good sized company. Pay is somewhere in the low 6 figures/high 5 figures, I expect, but I haven't been privy to that level of information in quite some time.

IMHO, not spending money to operate the club efficiently would be a complete travesty of the first order. Without leadership, membership fulfillment, content and value delivery, and the general membership experience would be far less codified and consistent.

The outgoing CEO, Ray Zimmerman, served as the club's first CEO. Ray professionalized the team operating in the STL headquarters and helped the club tighten up the way they worked with members. When I was club president, I had complete confidence in Ray's ability to safeguard the organization effectively, while still looking for ways to make things work more efficiently.

WRT to the site warning? I'm not sure. It may be as simple as a certificate mismatch due to some recent upgrading they're doing. Their current project, from what I know, is a complete rework of the underlying club management software. The objective is to be able to deliver content via smartphones and tablets, especially the Anonymous Book.

My guess is a certificate mismatch on their site, not something malicious. The "hack" was, if I recall, an IP theft or similar.

I got a false 'you haven't renewed' email this week, which has been confirmed by another member here. Weird stuff indeed.
