I know what you mean, it brings the bike up to 8500$ or so. And there are a lot of DRs running around pretty much standard with the original tank.
However, IF you were thinking of buying a safari tank, and IF you wanted more weather protection, and IF you like the design then it's a pretty good deal I think.
I might wait for the mighty DRjoe's attempt and see how we go.
Or I can just leave my bike the hell alone and ride it

So when the bike is 10 years old and worth $4000 and you consider spending $300 on a set of tyres you wont becuase they are too high a % of the 'value' you ascribe to the bike?

The value from the DR is 'value in use' - it's not economic. You bought an item which depeciates.

How do you value the enjoyment you get from using your DR?

$1100 is nothing for a tank and fairing.

Take a look at what the europeans spend.

i think ive spent more then most on my DR so it gets to a point where you have to say enough for what IMO is about making your bike look better and a little wind protection
if you think its for you then get it

If you have seen this in person you would say there is no more wind protection from this screen to a normal screen.

I am down there tomorrow so will try and take some better photos from different angles.

The way I see it, if you like the fairing/tank combination and want one then you buy it, if you don't, well you don't. The DR is only a $7-8K bike on which most of us spend some $$$ farkling up to make a better ADV donkey.....better than starting with a $16-20K bike and doing a lot of the same farkling.....isn't personal choice a wonderful thing???
