GXM 30 antenna mounting position F800GS

Anybody found a clever place to put their Zumo 550 antenna on the front portion of the bike?

Care to share a photo of the install?

Thanks!

I put mine on top of the left headlight. There's a nook there. I secured it with 3M lock. I'll try to remember and get a pic tomorrow.

Thanks, Lakota!

If you reversed the direction of the J C Whitney plate, wouldn't you have a more horizontal mount for the GXM? Do you get good signal strength with the GXM mounted at an angle like that?

Thanks again.

never have had a problem with reception when it is like that. I have tried it the other way but never liked it in that position.

Here's where I put the sat antenna. I had reception problems when I had it behind the gps. I also had interference when I tried it on top of the brake reservoir.

The pic is of the 665 that I upgraded to. The 550 antenna was in the same place.

Bobble headed mount

Originally I had the "puck" under the fairing in the front. It kind of worked but then I went to a tank bag and had to mount it almost vertically on my Mirage screen fairing. That did not work. Now I have it on the brake res and it is still intermintent at best. I dont get it. Its as straight and clear a shot to the sky as I am going to get. I am beginning to think I have a faulty system..

I had the same problem. They seem to interfere with each other if the zumo is in the same horizontal plane as the puck and within 12"-18" of it.

Mount

I made a small "L" shaped bracket and attached it to the back windscreen screw. Gets good reception and not likely to take a hit if I go down.
