Truly Garthe, if you're a 650R rider that's cool, but there are those of us who are not, and we're interested in this thread. So, bugger off and we'll get back to watching what Crank is up to.

dont feel bad guys, garthe is just jealous as his idea of modding a bike is bolting some bling on it and taking pics of it sitting in his living room.

OK, back on track for a few minutes

Made a stop at the metal shop this morning for the supplies for my first attempt at an electronics tray. I intend on improving upon this after everything is mapped out and finalized location wise.

Here is my basic idea of locations....

The battery fits pretty good and I have plenty of room for the ECU. The plan is to use circuit breakers instead of fuses but maybe the KTM fuse panel is OK, not sure yet.

I like the rubber dampers from the stock air box, they make a nice forgiving frame for the sensitive stuff.... Drilled out the 1" 6061 angle...

I had the top plate cut a bit larger with the idea that I can trim it later. It's always easier to remove than it is to add in this case

Checking out all the possibilities....

On a whim, I flipped the brackets over and discovered that the battery fits pretty good. I could even add a little bit of foam to the sides, which is perfect.

As you can see, I scribbled a bit. I could remove all that shaded area and trim the plate to fit inside the angle and fasten the plate with dzus fittings or even riv-nuts. I like the idea of being able to remove the plate without pulling the plastics off for the ease of servicing in Baja. I'm thinking about maybe using a carbon plate or even an HDPE plate, so I don't have a possible conductor of electricity in the case of a short or crash.

So far, I've spent.....

Battery $170

Micro Squirt $300

alum bits $10

I sold my Vortex and some SE parts I had sitting in the garage. So far, I haven't even dipped into the cash stash yet Thanks for all the kind words and even the not so kind words. They're all motivation to finish this project!

The 690 is leaving in the morning for Boston, home of Dent Sport Garage!
DSG is building me a new wiring loom to replace the stock unit. The new wiring harness will be much lighter and much simplified, no more 10 pounds of crap in a five pound bag

I had a Honda once but every time I stopped another Honda guy would try to F$%^ me in the A$$....sold it the next day. When they say "you meet the nicest people on Honda's", I didn't know thats what they meant

lateapexs is building the harness

Hey, are you going to Hickory hill for the Motocross this Sunday? I'm racing with Greg and Nate! How about the GNCC at Unadilla next Sunday? Jimmy and I are racing that also.
