I have not got my bike back yet but, from my understanding adding just the slip on is the loudest. With the power bomb it will be quieter and the megabomb is the quietest. If you feel it is still too loud wich I don't think it will be except maybe on full throttle. There are some mods you can do.

Speaking from Mods , i mod my Air filter today.

Last week at the 1000 Km Service (400 THB inc. Oil and Filters ) i let install a new Airfilter and request to get the old one .

If some don't know , here is how he looks .

Front

Back

Very thick oily Paper

I cut the Paper out and clean it up with a Dremel

Got a Hurricane Performance Airfilter for a 3 l Toyota Pick up

Cut this Filter with a Cutting Disk to Size to fit the CRF Filter Frame.

And Hot Glue it in the Filter Frame for the CRF .

Same Filter i run in my XR 280 and XL636 now for 35000 / 22000 km with no
Problems . Maybe not the thing for Dessert Racers but for my XR280 Sumo and my Touring XL good enough . Never had a Issue with Dirt in front of the Filter . On a Test years ago i fit the XL Foamfilter in a Box with the Hurricane Stainless Filter in front und try to suck in Talkum Powder and flour dust via a Industry size vacoum Cleaner .

No Dust in the Foam Filter , the Hurricane Stailess mesh Filter catch like 99% of the dust . Good enough for me .

How the CRF like this Mod ? I will find out tomorrow .

I hope all worried about the fmf sound levels realize they make a quiet insert for there cans at lest the power bomb and it works well. Getting rid if that up high 10lbs is worth it

I sure wish there was REAL test data on the sound level of these mufflers. The test is stupidly easy to do....EXCEPT, since this bike has no tach, setting speed correctly & consistently is tough. Radio Shack has a decent sound meter for $50.

I'm hoping that those tips won't be necessary, but I'll PM you if things went bad and I decide to go with some custom dB killers.. Thanks in advance! :)

I really don't think the mega bomb/Q4 combo will be that loud.

Hello my name is Darrell and I have been lurking your guy's thread for a couple weeks. I have dreamed of riding a dual sport for a long time.

My only riding experience is from my childhood riding an old XR75 and an XR80. I had an ATV later in life, a Rincoln650. Also I rode a moped at sixteen. It only lasted a few months because I always took it off road. Maybe that's when the dream began.

Fast forward to today, I will be 34 in a month and my girlfriend thinks I'm having a crisis but I'm the proud owner of a new shiny red crf250l. I put about two miles on it so far. im pretty stoked. I need to get some riding gear, boots, pants, jacket. I will probably mostly keep lurking. Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

We have a crf250l that we use at work (yup, I get to thrash this bike and treat my Crf250l a bit more gently). We just installed a Q4 slip on, while the weight savings is certainly noticeable the sound is HUGE!! Riding the bike back across town I was forced (by unknown forces?) to repeatedly blip the throttle just to get that ridonkculous noise. More than one head turned and gave me an angry look. No way I want one of these on my bike! The noise would become tiresome on long rides. But it will do fine on the work bike while I blast around the NZ countryside (13-45 sprocket setup on work bike, 13-40 on my bike).

Dit 250 km today with the moded Airfilter .
Engine pulls a little bit stonger ,revs a little bit faster .
Top Speed 125 km/h at half throttle , no problems .
Guess now i need more gas , the PGM FI even with the disconectetd
Lamda probe deliver enough .
