Fantastic ride report guys! Love the pics!

David, I'm glad to hear the racks worked well for you. Thanks for the details on the bike and setup too!

Riding a small bike like the DRZ-E on a long trip like that is the very definition of Adventure Riding! Hope the lip is getting better quickly for you too.

Well, you've done it again Mark; kept me up way too late reading another awe-inspiring tale of epic adventure and far off emergency rooms. Congrats on a great trip, and sorry about all that rain. Chewie, you will be missed. I know you just wanted to be among your people up there in the wilds of Labrador. Great trip guys, and I'm sorry I couldn't join you. Heading up to Nova Scotia, NB, and QC for some cycling in a couple weeks, though, and hope to have some similar scenery. Glad you both got home relatively unscathed!

Excellent ride report! Thanks David for sending me the link. When you guys started out, I was already crashed and in the hospital in St. Anthony. If that hadn't happened, I probably would have seen you on the island.

I agree with you guys about the lure of Labrador Newfoundland. I will definitely go back and finish my trip. The people up there are absolutely fantastic. Amazing. It is beautiful country up there.

So true about going faster on the gravel. I found that on the DRZ, 55mph was perfect. It floated right on top of the gravel marbles.

Thanks for a great report!!

Just found this.. AWESOME! Looks like you two had a fantastic ride. So, did you have to wait on the DRZ much? just saying cause the Tiger likes to gait all day.

The IRC TR8 is a awesome tire, I run it on my 990. So, are you doing another or looking for a new adventure/ride?

David had the DRZ geared with a pretty small rear sprocket, so he was able to keep up just fine.

I'm sure I'll head up there again eventually (probably once all the paving's done so I can kick back and see all the scenery!), but David and I are already talking about a different trip for next summer. Not sure yet where to... but definitely want to do something new.

Thats my ride for next year. It'll have to be on the 03 DL1000.. Out of country medical bills can be catastrophic if you aren't covered. My daughter took 3 stitches and a short ambulance ride in the Grand canyon.. cost was $4,700.00. Thankfully we were covered. PS If you've been to Nfld., you know what to expect in Ireland

Yeah, I was running 15/41 instead of 14/47 stock, so I could cruise at 70 comfortably. The only time it felt strained was pushing 80 into a 20mph headwind; the Tiger seemed to take it like a champ, but I was at WOT for about 4 hours...

The Tiger handled it, but my gas mileage went to hell!

Great report guys, looks like you had the winning combo of
- things going according to plan
- things definitely not going according to plan
- great folks
- great roads
- my tent! $*&%^^&^!!!!
- my face! $%*&^^& !!!!

all the hallmarks of a memorable ride.

Nice work with the GF-1 too Mark, I still love mine.

I've got a hankering for some VT scenery and roads that do not look like the dog's intestines. Maybe I'll say hey in a few weeks if you happen to be around.

Holy shit, Mike, that's hilarious! We actually slept on that bench, feet dangling off opposite ends.

And yeah, I really love the GF-1 as well. I wish Panasonic made a waterproof version so I could wear it around my neck while riding, regardless of the weather.

You know you're welcome anytime; drop a line if you feel like swinging over this way.

Thanks! Great meeting you guys as well, every time!

Great pictures in your report, looks like you guys stopped for a lot more scenic views than we did!
