Good link.Acids in the oil is the most important point, that causes more damage than anything else combined. We learned about acids in oil over 20yrs ago when we had a lot of CNG powerd cars over here. The oil never got dirty,so people extended their oil change periods, but acids pulled the linning off the bearing shells.

In my game I get to see all the additives, and all the demos, but the best one I saw delt with acids, they were on to them causeing engine wear. They used any oil we supplied, dropped a little nitric acid or sulfuric (thats what diesels get) into a test tube of oil, then heated it,then the oil turned black, with some of the magic formula it stayed clear.Of course the additive was crap, but it got me to thinking that maybe it's not dirt that makes the oil black, but heated acids.I read somewhere how much water an engine creates in the crankcase on a cold start, can't remember how much, but it's huge.

My bike has had it's oil and filter changed at 3000km for the last 10yrs,always with top quality oil.The last 2 times have been on Silkolene Pro4 and I just changed it today.I can't beleive how clean the oil is,I've changed the oil a lot on this bike, but it's never come out this clean.
