Can't do Sunday, as I'm turning 41 on Tuesday, and celebrating with friends on Sunday (11am, Asian Court Restaurant in Ellicott City, YFF's show up). But Saturday is for farting around.

Ok, so I think I'm gonna do this loop tomorrow - http://goo.gl/maps/kxPTO

Over Catoctin Mtn, lunch at Dixie Eatery. Down to Frederick to pick up chocolates at Zoe's for ChisenhallWoman (fellers, you can do worse than that joint for a sweetener for your SO), then either Rte 40 or I-70 to zip back. I'll probably take off from the corner of 26th & Calvert at about 9:30 or 10. Honestly, probably closer to 10. Anybody who wants to join me look for a blue Connie parked out front.

Think about MD 144 for the ride back. There is a while when you have to be on 70, but then you can get back off. Much more scenic, and it does take a bit longer, but if you have the extra time, it is less hectic. It parallels 40 and 70, and whenever you are feeling cramped for time, you can go to the next big cross street and get back on 70. It does become main street in Ellicott City, so I would probably be off by then so you don't hit that bottleneck on a Saturday afternoon.

Have fun!

+1 for SR-144. Much nicer ride then I-70. You'll get stuck behind a car every once in a while, but there are plenty of places to pass if you ain't scared(if you know what I mean ). I've been told to watch for radar traps, but have never seen one.

You can do SR-144 from Frederick to EC without getting on I-70 if you watch the signs. It crosses under I-70 a few times, but if you don't miss the turns you can stay off of it.
