Thanks Jax
But I am in awe of anyone who can capture a great mood or moment. It really takes a lot to see, really see!
Again, a really great shot!

I concur. The riding boots parked by the bike adds an unknown story element to the... NEVER-MIND, I was doing it again. Great subject as well.

It is almost Friday

I can see this as a great new Harley commercial campaign. Warning - This may damage your brain forever!

Looks a lot better than 'Why We Ride'

The Charles Theater

COMING IN FEBRUARY!
12 O'CLOCK BOYS

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22 11:30AM
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24 7PM;
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27 9PM.

"12 O’Clock Boys packs more life into its 72 minutes than many longer documentaries do. But in the movie’s compressed experience, the director, Lotfy Nathan, takes cues from his roving subjects: young dirt bike daredevils who pour into Baltimore streets en masse for the fleeting thrills of speed, danger and the perfect wheelie.

Being together is a huge part of it, too, and this mobile elite attracts Pug, who’s around 13 when the movie begins. The slow-motion, high-definition shots of grinning bikers leaning back in the sunshine, wheels rampant, all scored to juiced-up beats, are the stuff of his daydreams. The buzz of the motors, cutting through summer heat, almost seems to call to Pug.

These sequences are not the whole movie, partly because Pug hasn’t made the cut yet, and partly because, like many of these urban African-American riders, he has plenty else he might worry about. His spirited mother, Coco, supports five children; in an abrupt series of shots (ambulance, funeral, fighting), we learn that the eldest has died after an asthma attack. Pug grows brasher over the three or so years the documentary condenses, but he also says things that have a delayed gut-punch impact, as when he praises his hometown for being free of natural disasters.

Which is to say that the escapism feels distinct from the highlights of extreme sports sometimes glorified with similar techniques (or the skateboard antics chronicled by the Oscar-nominated director Spike Jonze, a Maryland native.). Mr. Nathan may underplay the risk these rides pose to others, and he freely taps into the chase-scene suspense of the on- and off-road police pursuits, which involve helicopters. One adult, a longshoreman and veteran rider named Steven, is presented as a kind of guardian angel, tracking the rides from a van that can hide bikes in a pinch.

The movie, which runs ragged by its second half, ends by embracing Pug’s fantasy adventure, confounding the present and future like a scene in Out of Sight. The sequence, about a raid to retrieve a bike, is one of the few times we hear Mr. Nathan, and his question to Pug says a lot about the movie’s perspective: 'How would you do it?'” (Nicolas Rapold NY TIMES)

2013 Dir. Lotfy Nathan. Color 1.85:1 76 min. DCP

Everytime someone talks about the 12 o'clock boys, all I can think of is how some things have changed, and how some things stay the same.
