That's the problem with all the 450s, euro and Japanese.... Built from race bikes that only need 2 hours of use between oil changes

Yup, working on an external oil tank design right now for mine. I already have the oil filter adater to line conversion but need to work out the size and location of tank and a few other details. Two quarts of total volume is my goal.

What do you suspect your extended interval will gain by adding the qt?

Considering I don't ride it like a racebike it should be comparable to the DRZ which holds about 2 quarts....so probably in the 2k to 3k mile range and thats not really pushing it.

New ktm 690 has 1.8 qt and a 6K replacement interval, so 2qt should buy you considerable mileage.

Your probably right but I usually change a bit more often as I feel its cheap insurance.
