The satellite imagery in OSRM is WAY more high def than Google Maps, but doing custom routing in OSRM seems to be a pain...

Really? I haven't found the custom mapping to be a pain at all. I quite like the gpx export feature.

Nice, Chis. I like the OSM maps and they got me out of a bind last year when taking some backroads back from WV and I had no cell signal. Any way to do an initial avoidance of interstates like in google?

The routing is....a little weird. I've only been playing with it for about a day at work. I don't know that I'd use it to plot the fastest route there. On plotting Baltimore, Md to Columbia, MO (a straight shot westward on I-70), OSRM routed me through.....Springfield, IL?

I think I might use this program to map out custom routes, go tagging, export to gpx, that sort of thing. If I wanna get somewhere fast I'll fire up Google or Waze and let them do the plotting.

I'm having pretty good luck with osmand. Routing is stupid simple and the turn by turn voice isn't too annoying.

It took me into the Monongahela NF in WV flawlessly.

I never got good at garmin or delorme and the screens are too small to be useful for a geeze of my advanced... uh... status.

Jax-you're not that old. What if you miss a waypoint? Does it try to get you to go back to it before going forward? I'm riding down to Calvert Co. tonight and might use it just for grins.
