Need a seat suggestion

I have a 2006 adventure and the stock seat is KILLING ME.

I am 6'8" so I need a tall seat, at my height I am thinking a one piece seat will allow me to move around so I do not get so many knee and butt cramps.

Has anybody every installed a Touratech seat?

Any seat suggestions?

I have a 2 piece Corbin and on high i can move back and forth between but there is a ridge between them.
I really like it.
It may not be high enough for you depending on your desired knee bend.

When I had GS Adventure seats the back seat was level with the front, so sliding back was quite possible. But now I love Russell Day Long seats even though I can't slide back as far, it's higher. Since I've lost weight mine is too stiff for me, and I need to have them build me another without the heavy duty suspension (need to be over 240lbs, and I'm not any more) What's your inseam?
Also there might be other things to consider. Lower the pegs? "Elf pegs" to stretch your legs. Hiway pegs mounted on the crash bars? Anything to get more leg room will make a difference

My inseam is 40", I lowered the pegs but a stock seat is absolute agony after 40 miles.

I recommend that you give Rick Mayer a call. http://www.rickmayercycle.com/ Discuss your needs with him and then send him your seat and he will re-make it to suit your needs. He re-did my GS seat and his work is excellent and quite reasonably priced.

I have a Touratech "High" seat, and it's the bomb. In the upper position it's a little higher than the stock Adventure seat, but it's much firmer and far more comfortable. It's not cheap, but it does exactly what I wanted it to do.

+1 on this, I have tried both and neither was comfortable for me.
I will eventually try Bill Mayer seats in Ojai, Ca. before my next long trip.

Holy crap... I'm 6'2 and have a 30" inseam... I'm picturing that scene from police acadamey when Hightower ripped out the front seats and sat in the back to drive.

Seats are very personal

This is one of those personal things that appear to be trial and error. I just put a Corbin w/backrest on my GSA and I love it. 6'6", 38" inseam with stock height pegs. Just did 300 miles yesterday with no issues. The Corbin is a little wider than stock, but has less padding so I was a little hesitant about comfort. Hated the stock seat as my bum would actually be riding on the gap between the front and back seat. The Corbin does move you a little forward, but I moved my feet around on the pegs to avoid "leg-lock". A set of pivot pegs and I'm good. I run with a Touratech plate system in place of the rear seat so I can haul "stuff" without a lot of issues. If you are ever in in northern VA, you can try mine out.

6'2", 35" inseam.

I bought an RDL for me and my girlfriend late last year. You'd have to pry it from my cold, dead butt cheeks to get it away from me.

I had to send it back once. I sent two used ADV seats I had bought, and the builder must have assumed I like being up high. I sent it in, he lowered it a bit, and it's perfect. I always had the original seat and the ADV seat in the high position, now the RDL is in the low position.

I hear you about the moving around part. I moved around on the flat seat all the time when I traveled the country on my old airhead, back in my youth, but this Russell feels so good I don't even fidget after many hours in the seat. Girlfriend loves it too, especially when I added a Stealth backrest for her.

I am 6'6" with a 36" inseam I had RDL make my seat +2" high! HUGE difference. I have the seat mounted in the low position for technical riding and in the upper position for cruzing.

You could do similar and lower the pegs and do a set of highway pegs. sorry not an easy 1 stop answer. If you are near Socal swing by and try out my couch err (RDL)

I'm 6'2" and got a custom made Bill Mayer saddle...it's great....I think probably added 2" of height and much more comfortable than stock, combine it with lowering pegs and you get a very comfortable riding position that can't be matched by many bikes.

That is what KILLs my bum, riding the crack between the front and rear saddles. I do ride with a passenger sometimes so I need that rear seat.

Some good suggestions here.

Thank you all!

Custom

I think it is Bill Mayer that has done some custom seats where they move the rider back by scalloping the passenger pillion, but RDL will probably do the same thing. Probably a ride-in job though. I'll keep the Corbin for day rides and get the stock seat customized by one of the aforementioned builders for the multi-day rides. I'll be interested in hearing what seat you settle on and how much you like it as I don't want to pop for that much coin for a full out custom seat I'll be living with for as long as I have the pig.

It's tough (and expen$ive) being unnaturally freakish in size.
