All set to go. Friday will be my birthday. What a better place to celebrate?

There is a lot of sand on this years route. If you're on a big bike knobbies ARE a requirement IMO. TKC as a minimum, Mich Deserts or similar are even better. Leave the Tourances and Annakees at home.

It wouldn't hurt to bring the AAA San Bernardino map with you either. You could detour around if you find yourself in to deep (pun intended). Just remember that sweep will NOT look for or help you if you go off course.

I'm blessed/cursed with a 950 Super Enduro, a TE610 and a KLR 650 to choose from at this point.

I've done it on a KLR 9 times (mostly day 2 only), on the Husky twice.

The Husky is by far the best trail bike, but I cringe at the thought of riding ~250 miles on the freeway on it...

The SE is a beast, but it only has 100 mile range and might be a handful in Red Rock Canyon.

Dunno yet.

Take the SE if you don't plan on taking any hardway options....I've been through Red Rock on my 620 with ~5+ gallons in the front tank and my partner was on his 990......you've been through the ~.25 mile washout on Rocky Gap Rd. enough times to know the line by now (stay hard right, cross left, up and over the dirt mound, right at the split, and you're out)

Parking in Palmdale

I tried searching but got no results.......Does anyone know if there is secure parking in Palmdale, at Palmdale Supercycles or elsewhere?

Still trying to figure out how to get there, our best bet would be to drive to Palmdale & leave the truck then ride back to it from Vegas on Sunday.

Thanks

You can park in the back lot at Palmdale Super Cycles for the weekend

I have been trying to log in at district 37 to ask this question but no luck.

Do they really check sound levels ? I have FMF silencers on my SE just wondering if it will pass. it's not super loud.

I had a FMF Q on my CR500 and FMF claimed a 96 DB it never checked lower that 115.

There is a tech inspection, better to be safe than sorry.

Do you have an insert in them? If so, I bet you'll be OK.

Sound level

They will have a sound level meter at tech. But...they'll typically look at your exhaust and if it is stock or has an insert then they will pass you on a visual inspection. If there is doubt you could be asked to do a db check. Just saying.

Download a db app and test it . Hold it 3ft back... Would suck to be pulled for obvious violation.
