You'd be surprised how few riders read the Rider Packet and then the Rider Instructions the day of the event. Those are the ones who run out of gas. Or miss fabulous Red Rock Canyon the second day because they didn't manage their time, take bail outs, and missed the 2:15 p.m. cutoff point at Sandy Valley. Then they have to take the highway into Vegas. Yeah, they cry and complain about it later.

Spread the word, please, to READ the Rider Packet. It has important information in it, especially for newbies.

I tried a pair of 50/50 shinko's last year and a BUNCH of knobs broke off before 200 miles were put on them. I did abuse them like I do all my tires, running at 20 psi on the highway is probably bad.

I have been running maxxis dessert IT's and have never broke one knob off even with tons of street/highway miles. I used them last year on LABTOV- I think they are fine on the highway but probably a poor choice in rain on pavement. If there is a better dessert/full knobby/dual sport tire let me know.

+1 on the Maxxis Deserts... Get the intermediate tread. They are tough and wear pretty well.

Maybe someone will take John home. Or at least back to Palmdale.

Six hours? He started early this morning from his house!

He just sent me a message. He said he's going to ride home after food and gas. I told him he was nuts!

We're going to have to double his pay. Let's see, $0 x $0 = $0

It looked like he left Palmdale Cycles at almost 10 am. Don't know the delay at home ....

Jinx

We rode home from this area last night. It was brutally cold...

Steering stabilizer..CHECK, new Shoei Hornet...check. Shake down ride with Rider914 (whew!!) check. Just gonna mount a new D606 on the rear and that'll be about the end of the check list....I think.

Did you look at my list? 'What Should I Take on LA-B-to-V?' Got all that stuff?

If you've never seen it, it's here in the District 37 Dual Sport Sept/Oct 2012 newsletter on the 9th page:
