Just saying Hi
I'll be doing this ride for the first time. Riding a DRZ 400 with a buddy on a Kawi 250. Both of us have are experianced dual sport riders and have done many Countdown rides. How do the hard ways on this compare to his? Thanks..

You really need to be advanced or intermediate riders for LA-B-to-V's hard sections this year, which will be harder than previous years. The first day of the route will have long, steep hill climbs and steep down hills. There will be rocky sections. Similar to Counts' rides. But you gotta keep moving. A shortcut is to skip the rocky road from Rasor to Baker the second day. A lot of people do. It will save you time and wear and tear on your body. Save you energy. Jump on the freeway. It's only 11 miles, but the dirt road is miserable. The second day hard ways have very deep sand, washouts, very rocky trails, and it's LONG. Not so much hills. You probably wont make Red Rock if you take the hard ways, simple as that. You gotta go about 274 miles. If you leave at 6 a.m. and ride super fast, take super fast gas breaks, and a short snack break, you might make it through Red Rock if you have no problems. The cutoff once you get to Lovell Canyon Rd is 3 p.m. If you make it by then, you can proceed through to Red Rock. So, similar to Counts, except for the deep sand, and you have to really rush the second day. The DRZ isn't really known as a sand bike like a KTM is. But it's all about the rider, of course. |

I prepaid on the 8th of the month and didnt receive my package in the mail this year or decal as with previous years. I did get an email with a preprinted ticket.
The Little TTR 125 is Ready! I plan to take the easy and if the sand gets too deep bypass where I can....its about protecting the bike and finishing two days....any drafting will be appreciated...wave as you go by..... ![]()

If anyone loses a kitchen sink on the ride just flag me down.
edit: Haha I just noticed the blue masking tape. My 2 year old was "helping" me fix the bike while I was loading it up. At least it wasn't glue. ![]()
