Houston, we have a problem.

This event a few days ago brought us winds of a buck thirty one where I live and I'm guessing that being on the road for this kind of thing might be a problem.

This ride is called off. Tie your stuff down or the neighbors'll own it.

Bummer.

Good call :
There is still more time left in September

Hopefully we'll still have leaves on the trees, that will be able to change before they're blown off

That's alright. Now you'll be able to call it the Moodier Bastard Run.

Just had my nails done and I'm not supposed to be blown into oncoming traffic until the polish is dry.

Depending on the wind factor in the valley I may still go up

I know it won't be the same without the girls, but unless the wind is horrendous, I am willing to give it a shot. Sometimes the wind does not hit in the Talkeetnas too badly when it is blowing hard down here. I was gonna get my nails done too, but this may be a good reason to hold off on that.

I get it, Mike. We are no strangers to high winds here and you can't be out playing while the lights are out and the roof is sounding like coming off. Hope it goes well. Bravado aside, its looking bad for the ride.

Ok, that may have exceeded the funny-per-post quota.

If it doesn't look like shit tomorrow, I'll roll over to that shell station with the cheese curds around 10

Yay, I get to sleep in before getting up to watch MotoGP.

Legion, maybe we should all just meet up at your place just to help weight it down lest it blow away. Maybe even call it "passing of the wind" party.

Yet another good photochop job, Tom. How's the wind been up at your place?

Any that could get here would probably have to spend the night as when the wind get's to boogying up this way it'll instill a fear of God and flying dump trucks, right quick.

Remember the wind of Dec 2011? It was pretty much a non-event for most folks but around here it was a full throttle hellspawn. Here's a pic of one of my neighbors. Look close... he's the guy in the rafters trying to do a little visqueen cover-up. Behind him up high in the trees is insulation that used to be in his roof and to get an idea of where the actual roof is imagine where a few sheets of 100mph plywood fly off to. Could have been stabbed into another neighbor's house, Cook Inlet, or anywhere else a 4'x8' frisbee might go. On a different windstorm my wife called the next morning to tell me the road was blocked. Both lanes. By a building.

If you're really a detail freak take a look at his trees. Nice and tall; not the heavily stumped windblown dwarfs like several here at the pad. He's not even in the channel where the wind gets serious. Here where all the trees look like they've been taking steroids for a hundred years the winds are normally calm but when they do get after it they're beyond my ability to describe. Takes a few years to get used to 'em.
