That's 230k+ miles in Ram trucks for me so far....maybe it's just you?

Keep on keepin on then.

As for me I'll stick with my Dino technology '78 F150 and keep away from chrysler in the future.

This pathetic old Chrysler product will roll over 200,000 miles sometime in the next week or two. We bought it new and just the fact that we still have it 15 years later says a lot about this vehicle. All told I have maybe $1500 in non-wear replacement parts.

We have never owned another car this long. Considering it has been paid off for eleven years, this Chrysler product owes me nothing. I think my insurance is $100 per year and every day it gets me to work is one more day without car payments.

Now back to your regularly scheduled Chrysler sniveling.

Two Wranglers '98 and '02. '98 went well over 100K and the '02 was up over 50K. Both worked fine, no drive train issues, no a/c issues, nothing. Soft top's leaked like hell on a rainy day, but that's why they have floor drains

Commander is well over 80K, the 5.7L Heme is starting to burn some oil, and it's due for shocks, but everything else (knock on wood) is fine.

Durango went to 130K befroe we sold it - again, no issues.

I wish my '08 Power Wagon had more than a 36K warranty on it because one end of the sway bar fell out of the disconnect actuator motor at just over that mileage. I failed to notice it until 40K or so, and didn't even bother trying to argue it at the dealer. $900 down the drain.

On the bright side, I had a '93 ex-oilfield Cummins with 230K on it when I bought it. I put another 30K on it pulling a gutter trailer around this windblown state with no breakdowns at all. I sold it for just shy of what I bought it for, and have no regrets other than maybe selling it.

My ex had a '98 Neon that I had to replace the head gasket in, which was a hateful process, but that car went forever with no other real problems.

I had an '07 Caliber with an irritating delay in its DBW throttle system, and horrid outward visibility & interior, but no problems in 20K, which ain't much I know.

There were a couple M-series trucks that really aren't relevant to this topic, but all tolled, my experiences have been largely positive.

In the mid 90's I worked a very short time at a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer. The month's supply of 41TE transaxles made the wall that seperated the service counter from the service bays. That wasn't all the transmissions we did that month, those were just the ones the techs couldn't rebuild. It was a small dealership, but I still lost track of how many transmissions we did on a daily basis.

Best one, test drive an Intrepid with a new transmission, for the Secret Service. I tested that one Good.

Next most common one, Neon head gaskets. "My neon has an oil leak", "OK we just need to replace the head gasket and it will be fine"

So glad we rarely dealed with trucks, the horror stories from the techs and other dealers.

Only owned 2 in the family. Neither was that bad. '76 Fury had eletrical issues but never stopped running. That 225 slant 6 was an awsome engine. Strong, but not powerful enough to hurt itself. I showed my brother that you can shift a 3 on the tree into 2nd while doing doughnuts in a church parking lot. Later an '85 Laser with a turbo 2.2 engine. OK, that one got a bad rack and it was later found better to drive with the power steering belt removed, but a lot of cars of all makes in that era had that problem. And the cooling fan that would get stuck on until the battery was dead. But for an 80's american car it was no worse then anything else. I guess we got lucky and got a couple of the better ones that only had eletrical issues.

Would I guy one today, no.

Chrysler is notorious for making......less than dependable cars.
She got a V-6 midsized sedan and including the 2 warranties (she got a 2nd extended one for an additional 2 years) and all maintenance I think total cost of ownership minus fuel has been ~18k. That's not a bad fucking deal, plus now when she sells it in a few months she can say it has a brand new motor

Bringing it to the shop once every 3 months is a little annoying but she gets a loaner right away and the old (now closed) Chrysler dealer was a mile from the house, and the new one is a similar distance from her job.

That is my least-favorite fault in a car. I'd rather have the pistons eject themselves through the hood every other year than play accessories roulette every friggin' day. I can build an engine while blindfolded. I *loathe* chasing intermittent opens, especially grounds.

It's a crapshoot.

We had a 2000 Intrepid that was a horrid POS. Bought brand new, and had all kinds of issues (not covered under extended warranty either) in the 90,000 miles we had it. Swore I wouldn't buy another Chrysler, and then last month I bought a Wrangler. We'll see how it goes. If someone else made an equivalent vehicle to the Wrangler, I may have looked elsewhere.

On the flip side, I know several people who have had excellent luck. My Father-in-Law has had a Ram 2500 with a Cummins for about 12 years. Thing has been rock solid with only routine maintenance except for one thing - it needed a new ignition switch. That's it. Great truck.

A co-worker is selling her Sebring with about 130,000 on it. Interior is getting worn, but the rest of the car is in good shape. She's had very few issues, and nothing major.

The intrepid is the one that had the longitudinally mounted engine but was FWD right? I saw that one time and just went all the inefficiency of RWD with the "fun to drive" of FWD, but then again Chrysler minus the viper (and ACR neon) wasn't really into drivers cars.

That's how Eldorados were built. I think Subarus and Saabs are the same way.

As an incentive, my truck came with a lifetime guarantee on the entire powertrain for as long as the original owner (me) owns it.

I plan to keep this truck forever.

Plus, I know 2 guys who have bought brand new Ford Raptors, one of them had a power steering hose take a shit and had to wait a couple of weeks for a replacement, and my Dodge is faster than those shitpiles.

Sorry about your engine trouble Sir, but we can't help you.

Your warranty was provided by the OLD Chrysler corp, we are the NEW Chrysler corp.

Mom had a '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 2WD. Most unreliable piece of shit our family has ever owned, and I've had 4 vintage italian bikes. It started rattling 2 months after bought new; glove box, dash, drivers door and rear hatch. At around 30 mph the glove box would flop open. Stereo couldn't get decent signal from day 1. Car alarm would go off for no reason in the middle off the night, with no one in the garage, but you could bump the car and nothing... Dash lights failed. Headlights burned out regularly. Trans went at 2 years, known problem but Jeep wouldn't cover, mom had to threaten to have her law office sue (moms previous vehicles looked and drove new a decade after she bought them). Gas gauge was shit from the factory, when there was a recall the dealerships told us 6 months wait. Horrible gas mileage, no uphill power. Will never own another Chrysler product, not just because the cars suck, but the dealerships (6-costa mesa, gilroy, santa clara, san jose) were all complete crap.
