I could be wrong but I'd think a twin shock 495 KTM is the rarer bike. they certainly give nothing away in the looks dept the 495 KTM is one eyeful of big 2 stroke porn. if you gave me the choice of one or the other both in the same condition I'd have to take the KTM. Never rode either one the closest I came to riding something like that was a 1978 Maico 400 Magnum that my riding buddy had. We were pretty evenly matched him on a 370 Pursang and me on a 360 CR. when he got the 400 Magnum I couldn't keep him in sight.

I need better 495 pics this one's from ebay the Maico is from Unadilla VMX last June.
Looks just like my old 495,I traded an 86 KDX200 for it straight across. The guy had the 495 jetted so rich it only got 15mpg,took about a half hour to fix that and get rid of the huge tank he had on it.
It was reliable and ran like a freight train,no mechanical problems.

Friends who had Maicos had to know all the tricks to keep em going, nice bikes though.

I don't think the Bowers/Wharton thing is a big deal. That's why the 250 riders are so fun to watch. They do all kinds of off the wall stuff. By the time they make it to the big bikes they have either learned their lesson or get taught one real quick. I don't think you can really make a rule about agressive riding b/c who the heck would make the decision as to if a move was "too dirty" or not? It would always piss off one guy or the other and their fans. Bowers and Wharton will figure it out. I'm ready to watch the next race. Best racing in years! Both classes even!

Obvious take down moves should result in docking of results for that race, anybody at that level can knock a rider and bike down.

I mostly agree with you but SX has different sort of level of or lack of precision in regards to wheel placement that's unlike the other forms of racing because of the huge, and constantly changing track surface. Knocking someone off in a road race is a lot more obvious.

Dungey and Canard talk the talk and walk the walk that's why. Wharton's a phony.

If you say so.

But if you watch Wharton he's sizing guys up for the next smackdown and its too obvious. Hes been in that 250 class a long time, probably wont be fast enough to do well in 450's ever.
Hes too desperate and it shows. But if a smart racer watches videos of other racers,he would know to never leave a door open for the takedown move.

Some spectators are there for the crashes, some are there for the races.
Promoters mainly want money and if takedown style crashes sell then what the heck?

I agree its good racing, but guys getting knocked down doesnt help the show, you can have great tight banging racing with out the smackdown moves.
It seems like its accepted more then it used to be,I dont watch racing to see crashes.

A "dirty" move would be 1 where 3 camera angles show a rider driving his bike straight into another bike and using it for a berm and knocking the rider flying.

2 guys racing and banging on each other is a different thing.

But overall great racing and WA should be another good one!

Wharton will never win a SX\MX Championship.

I understand riders fighting for a position in a turn. I'd say it's perfectly acceptable for them to bump into each other and even cause another rider to go down. It's the nature of the beast. This however is different from the only way that Wharton knows how to pass a rider. His method is ALWAYS to essentially mess up a turn, and use the rider he takes out as a berm.

Wharton will never amount to anything beyond what he has now if he keeps it up.

After he rode off the track at the last round, this is not surprising at all.

I agree.

Canard is a bit over the top... follow him on twitter and you'll see what I mean... every tweet is a quote from the bible or something similar... https://twitter.com/TreyCanard

That guy does really walk the walk.
