Dumb question about F800GS
I am renting a motorcycle in Spain. The rental operator notes that the bike has an electrical outlet.
Is there a standard BMW outlet that requires an adapter or is it a standard accessory plug like in cars? Or I need to ask them because it could be either.

There is a standard DIN power outlet located by the key switch. The DIN outlet is different from a regular cig outlet.

The outlet by the key takes a special male plug from BMW or Powerlet among others. It is a very low amperage outlet - good for GPS, recharging phones and cameras etc., but not enough heated vests, etc.

it's smaller than the normal ones. you need a specific "motorcycle" one... you can get it from almost each motorcycle accessory handler

Adapters are available for cigarette or USB, if you have chargers that use those power sources. Wunderlich, Touratech and many others offer them.

Additional dumb question:
Gerbing says their vest draws 4.5 amps. All the online materials state the BMW accessory plug allows up to 5 amps. Various owners give conflicting reports on if the accessory plug will power the vest without shutting down. Anyone? |

I run my BMW heated vest no prob. The one with just an on/off switch, no hi/low. Don't know the draw on it but it keeps on ticking.
