DRC for work

Hello

I´m going to DRC (Congo) to work. I´ll be there for some 6 months or so.
I know that DRC is not the touristfriendliest place in Africa but maybe some guys here can give me some ideas?

I will be in the south of Congo, near Kolwezi and i would like to know if there are any fun things to do in that area.

Looks like I'll be working in DRC for a few years too; based out of Kinshasa.

I would love some advice on whether it is worth bringing a bike.

Mainly, I would like to know:

1) How safe is it riding outside of the capital?
2) How bad are the roads?
3) What is the most common make/model/size?

Now that i´ve been there i have some info. I was in Kolwezi in the southern region but this info is still valid.

I believe it´s safer outside of Kinshasa but it´s still not really safe.
Most roads outside of the cities are awful.
Most common are Chinese bikes suited for highway use.

The traffic situation in cities are somewhat mindblowing. Traffic rules are not a high priority and if you are involved in an accident you are most likely the one they blame.... and they don´t want to wait for the police to solve the problem....

I can not recommend you to ride a bike there...
