Yup. The 700s are tuned primarily for economy, IIRC.

The 500 will get very close to the 700 at best economy. WMTC figures are 78 Imp mpg for the 700 and 76.3 for the 500. However the 500s wider operating RPM range and higher redline means the bike can be operated further from it's ideal with lower mpg as a result.

I thought "wow,he seems a little cramped" but then I saw the note where he's 190cm,so I guess that translates to about 6'2".Should put my 5'8" self right in the sweet spot

My friend does that same "knee out & 8" from the deck at every turn" move, it is torture if he manages to get out on the road in anything but last place.

There aren't many journos who, OTTOMH, I would rate as fast riders. MCN has a couple of guys who race on a regular basis, RiDE tends to have the hands-on tinkering type, BIKE has guys like Hargreaves (who seems to know what he's doing) and MFG (who gets elbow-down shots, but also crashes a lot. And I mean a lot).

That said, you may be right. It's common to see journo reviews for track launches (print) but the vid clips tend to be sedate road reviews.

I'm a little guilty of that one too I thought the guy in the video had some of my great riding skills!!!

Brake 1/2 hour too early,throw knee out in corner like i'm about to shred some fabric,correct line 3 or 4 times from over-leaning and then hard on the gas to go screw up the next corner.

You can't tell how fast he's going in a photo, and "proper" posture on
a bike looks good in a magazine.

He was riding slow for that same reason too, easier to photograph.

Go over any motorcycle magazine.

Been there, done that.

Both on bike and behind the camera.
