I sat on an f today again and I have to say I liked it. For a small bike it's comfortable. Much more room than the 250cbr that was next to it. I think it would make a great commuter bike.

50HP?.......the Shadow RS750 I believe is rated at 47 HP......what a bummer for the RS750!.

I was an idiot on page 5. If your not happy with the 750, get the 500, it's all good.

Thanks for the link. This is the first article I've read where they actually measured power at the rear wheel and found almost 45hp! That means their dyno is way off or crank hp is much closer to 54 than 47.

Try 35 HP at the rear wheel.

Side cases?

Looking through Honda's site, I see that there are optional side cases for the 500F but not the 500R. Anyone know if the cases shown for the F would fit the R?

The tail sections of the F and R are identical, so it seems more of a marketing ploy on Honda's part to differentiate the style of bike.

The Honda UK site has a brochure that lists all three hard cases and carriers among the CBR500R accessories, so I'd assume they fit.

I'm really interested in these bikes. My favorite bike was my '79 GS 550 Suzuki. I had more fun on that bike than on anything I've owned before or since. Admittedly I haven't owned a whole lot of bikes, but that one stands out. I may have to test ride the F and X and see how they measure up.

No mention of unhappy?...just seemed 50 hp for the 500 was a bit high.

I see what you mean. I expect it's still a real fine bike and the cx too, I didn't mean to put it down.

This Thia product, coming out of these new Honda factories is just incredible. The 500s look good, I probably won't get one, to me it just doesn't scream- I love kitty!

0-60 (62 actually) on the NC700X is in the 6,5s ballpark, so with same power
and less weight, I'm assuming 5,5-6 seconds.

Pegaso has 48hp but about 40lbs less then the 500s, and it'll do 62 mph
in exactly 5 seconds.
