I can't imagine having it a fake storage tank. The engine is mounted way to high for that.

Article says they all use the same tank and frame, so no integrated storage.

Just found in a local motorcycle blog, pics of the above mentioned 500cc
bikes that Honda is supposedly getting ready for 2013.

The CB500X looks like the NC700X.

The article also say they're supposed to have 47hp.
Can't see the CB500R clearly, but the CBR and NC-like CB500X is
seen clearly:

If you look at the sides of the new 500 the dimension of the engine look a lot like the dimension of the CBR250R

I'm very curious to see how the pricing comes in over here. Undercutting Gladius/ER-6F/FZ6R by enough to make it compelling? We'll see. The specs are a bit underwhelming, unless a tuner can eke out another 5hp with an exhaust and remap.

Yeah, just what IS the purpose of the "beak" on any of these so-called "Adventure" Bikes? Most of 'em have a fender down on the front wheel anyway??

I loved my GS500. Had enough power to be fun, but you could still wring its neck without going to jail. Then my Ninja 650R, which was better, but a little stupid from 4th gear on. Now my FZ6, which I can only wind out in 2 gears (legally).

I think the sweet spot is somewhere between the GS and the 650, but I'm not sure. This CB500, geared lower, with a bit more juice, could be pretty sweet!

Seems like a logical set of models. Honda has sold thousands of CB500 variants over the years.

It would be wonderful to see a CB500 with a version of the NC700x motor capable of another 15% MPG.

The NC700S here for example costs less then any of the stuff you mention,
and the NC700X is priced about the same as the FZ6R (yuck) and ER6F, just
a tiny bit more expensive then the ER6n (love the looks on the new one).

The Gladius costs almost as much as a naked Bandit 1250.

I think these 500cc bikes will cost just SLIGHTLY LESS then the NC700X,
IMHO. Wouldn't be surprised if they price the CBR500R somewhere
between NC700S and NC700X, just because it's a CBR.

The Ninja 300 here will cost almost as much as a ER6n!

Anywhu, if the CB500R gets here cheap, I'll be all over that, I could even
afford to keep my current bigass scoot with it.

I've never owned a bike with a beak but I assume if you remove the front fender you could still avoid some spray if the road gets nasty.

It has a fender hugging the tire below the beak. I guess the beak is a style thing that I could do without.
Anyway I would like a completely naked CB500 with a normal gas tank and fenders. I guess I am stuck in the 70's regarding styling. Just don't see how you can improve on the 1970s Triumphs , guess that is why I ride a W650.

I imagine the beak thing is going to be short lived. For me it just kills the looks of the bike.
