will gl1000 and 1100 parts interchange?

Just wondering..

I picked this up the other day(gl1000) and I can only seem to find 1100 stuff nearby..

Thanx for looking...

The 1100 is just a slightly larger bored version of a 1000 engine, so most parts will fit except carbs, pistons rings etc. Timing belts, oil filters water pump, hoses and pretty much everything else should fit. Not sure about rims and frame components though.

Not all that much. You can make the 1100 carbs fit on the 1k, which gains you accelerator pump(s).*

* Different 1100 years have different carbs - early model has a single shared accel pump and later ones have one per carb.

With some fabrication you can make body parts from an 1100 go on a 1k, such as the fairing, bags, seat, etc.

The '83 seat is longer than earlier ones.
