Jesse Luggage not so hot

I ordered a set of Jesse's Odyssey II luggage for my VStrom so I could use it on my trip south to Mexico. The equipment arrived on a Friday. I was leaving on the following Tuesday and I started sifting through the instructions which I had to print out from Jesse's website, as they didn't include instructions with the bags. I immediately found there was an O-ring missing from the side bags lock assembly. Jesse is closed on Fridays so I was unable to reach them to find out what O-ring I might find locally to replace the missing ones. I put the bags back in the boxes, and decided that I would just use my old luggage, and to ship the Jesse bags back to Jesse as I was leaving on Tuesday for Mexico, (Jesse was closed on Monday for Memorial day). I called them first thing Tuesday to get a return authorization for the luggage, and was informed by their phone operator that the new locks didn't require the O-rings, even though their instructions specifically mention them, and that I would have to pay return shipping myself. That cost me about $120. When added to the original shipping costs of $70 from Jesse, I'm out about $190 because they didn't bother to update their installation instructions or include a set of updated instructions with a product I was billed $1650 for. Based on my experience with Jesse Luggage, I would never buy anything from them again, and I pass this along for those of you who may be considering purchasing from Jesse. Buyer beware.

Well, I think I am over it, but you may have missed my point that if you pay $1650 for a set of luggage, you should receive accurate instructions as to how to use/install the product. Besides that, I didn't have time to run around trying to figure out how their product is supposed to go together. Hell if Jesse had offered to let me ship the product back at their shipping costs I could have lived with that.

I suppose i should have clarified that my review is not of the luggage itself, but the company.

Just because a company doesn't have correct instructions doesn't mean they are going to foot the bill on something your having buyers remorse over. You ordered the product. The product came exactly as ordered. live with it.

I learned long ago that if something says universal it means i'm making 3 trips to the hardware store.

I ordered a set a few weeks ago. The instructions sucked but you are paying for the bags and rack quality not a piece of paper telling you how to install. My overall opinion is they could use a update on the website and on the instructions but do you really want to pay for it?

I can't believe you sent them back over a o-ring. really?

A couple of lessons to be learned here. #1-Never wait until the last minute before a big trip to install new gear. #2-If you are not able to troubleshoot an installation as simple as this have a professional do it. I hope bashing Jesse here and spending the 190 bucks makes you feel better. I very happy with my Jesse Safari cases. GH

Good think this happened before your trip. What would have happened if you lost an o-ring in Mexico?

Well, I was just recuperating from an accident, in which I lost my spleen, I was living in a rented apartment in a place where I had no tools, and few resources, and I expected to have instructions and a product that matched. Silly me. I do agree about last minute ordering. I had little time after getting out of the hospital to figure out what I wanted, and it did go to the last minute. That said, had their correct instructions been included, as most products costing in this price range would have been, there would have been no problem. Had they assumed any of the responsibility for not publishing the correct installation instructions there would also have been no problem.

I Comprehendaaaaa

Your right 1600, and it is missing something. They suck. Leatherlyke bags ROCK, and they install in minutes. They come as ordered. Everything you need to install. Although, I've never seen any on dirt bikes. I'm sure it has been done.Yea, company SUCKS.

Actually, I'm not "bashing" Jesse. I did however describe how the company cost me almost $200. Just passing it along for those who might benefit from my experience, so they don't have to repeat it.

Oh and for those of you bad-ass mechanics who who are luvvin' how I gave up over a simple O-ring, when Jesse redesigned the bag locks, it was not apparent how an O-ring would be used on the new design. Just sayin'.
