There are still lowers out there, obviously. It's the uppers that are scarce as hen's teeth.

Yup, the lower is marked with the SN. Had to fill out the forms at the shop. The clerks had it down to a science. I already have a CWP, so just the form. But others were having to run through NICS phone call.

Everyone who purchases a firearm has to be run through NICS, regardless of what permit you may have.

If you leave a weapon on consignment at a shop and you decide not to sell it, they have to run a NICS check for you to pick up your own weapon.

SC laws may not be the same as your area. I already had a NICs as part of the CWP process. Bought a few long guns and handguns since. Show the CWP, fill out the form (not a wanted felon, have not renounced my citizenship, etc), plunk down the cash and carry out the firearm, no phone calls needed.

You had to fill out an ATF form 4473 right?

Yup. From 4473 took about 5 minutes in and out.
Lookit question 23.
"No NICS check needed because buyer has a valid permit from the state where the transfer is to take place, which qualifies as an exemption to NICS"

Huh. That's interesting.

How long are the CWPs good for? 4 years?

What if someone were to get a CWP, then a month later be convicted of a felony?

They would be able to purchase a firearm illegally by just showing the CWP?

At least in Florida stores still run background checks on CWL holders. Imagine this is true in other states as well.

Hi. How are ya? They don't have to be processed via NICS in states which allow the HCP to stand for the background check. THere is a box on the ATF 4473 for such a reason. It also stands for the purchase of a Class III/NFA weapon.

07/02 FFL/SOT holder.

Doing good.

For the purchase of an NFA item, but it obviously can't replace the Form1/4 right?
