According to the ammoe dealer at my gun club, CCI is cranking out 4 MILLION rounds of .22lr a DAY! Sounds like a lot, until you figure that's less than 100,000 per state. Still, the masses will only bother to hoard so much. Give it another month, prices will start to come back to normal.

I hope you're right, but I have a feeling that this 'shortage' is going to last a lot longer than a month or two. I'm betting we won't see normal supplies of .22 and other popular calibers like 223 and 9mm in '13.

This 'hoarding' you speak of... do you mean it is a bad thing?

Just in case anyone has a CMMG 22lr conversion kit, Palmetto State has 25 round mags for $16.95.

Yes, they had three of them at the last gunshow in Hampton, VA.
Two for $ 1899 (they sold) and one for $ 3499.

I fondled the $ 3499 one (carefully). It is very compact and it felt cheap. My Tokyo Marui Airsoft gun is better quality plastic.
I would pay $ 500-600 for one, no more.

Fritz

Not at all. I have been watching the local estate sales pretty closely. The widows of good Ol' boys sell their stuff off pretty cheaply.

It's a 3 or 4 MOA dot. For a lot of people that's about the area they'd hit at a given range with a rack grade carbine too. So, using a 50/200 zero, you *should* be able to put the dot where you want the bullet to go and pull the trigger without adjustment. It's not "target" grade accuracy, but it's pretty good for most needs. [Oops, that's not a Aimpoint T1, but I bet the Bushnell very similar]

As for the second hoard of ammo, I have no problem--free market. But as more people stockpile like that, the pool is dwindling. But the pool of ammo has been low since at least 2008 or so... So I think a lot of people have been buying everything they can get their hands on.

Thanks Nikl! I'm having a bitch of a time getting my red dot zero'd, just another excuse to go to the range I guess.

At my current burn rate, I'm only good for about 8 months on 9mm, and a year on .223. I'm trying to be optimistic that it will be all better by then. I was much better off until the boy stepped up to the full size stuff at the end of last year.
