Best of Alaska July/August 2013

Blog by Brenden Koge Anders on our Best of Alaska Adventure which is happening right now
---

Our latest trip heading out to explore the best Alaska has to offer!

Day 1: The group took a jaunt south yesterday to get a taste of the Kenai Peninsula before we head North. Blue skies greeted us as we explored Turnagain Arm, Portage, Seward, Hope and Girdwood. Tomorrow we head North into taller mountains and more adventure.

To be continued...

Day 2 and 3 Best of Alaska

Day 2 and 3 Best of Alaska 2013.

The group backtracked north visiting Hatcher Pass and the Independence Mine areas. We cut east chasing the source of the Matanuska River. Some of our group took a small hike to trek on Matanuska Glacier. Yesterday we turned south and navigated Thompson Pass and Keystone Canyon with a great view of Worthington Glacier. Our Destination was Valdez and the weather was rare and beautiful.

Nice photos and start to a great ride, I'm sure.

I was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base there in Anchorage from 1989-1996. I was the pianist in the USAF Band stationed there, so we got to travel all over the state including out on the Aleutians. However, I did not have a bike at the time since we had a newborn and my wife is an excessive worrier. Wish I had been able to ride there, but I'll do it vicariously through you. So post lots of photos, please!

North to AK - more photos

We haven´t heard (in the last 3 days) from our adventurers that are on the Best of AK adventure as we speak. However, we are receiving photos from their trip every now and then, so we decided to share those since photos tend to say more than words anyway

More photos from the Best of AK Adventure

Unfortunately there was no time to continue with the motorcycle diary, but I want to compensate by sharing our favourite photos from the trip...:
