Thanks for that RR. I have been to the other "Fin" sign at Old Fort on the other side and wondered if the two will ever connect.

If I still had every dollar I spent on motorbikes I would be a richer man but a poorer person.

Hello damurph

Like most people riding the Trans-Labrador Highway (in 2011), I got on the ferry at Blanc Sablon and missed the road south to Old Fort. I regret it now. Perhaps next time......

Great read. Thanks for sharing about a part of the world I know very little of. A very human report about imperfect machines and riders but still we prevail and come to the end of the trip. Glad it made memories for you.

Very nice report.
Thanks also for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBW3z...ature=youtu.be

One of the rare videos with music that adds iso distracts or irritates. Oh, do I love the sound of a Guzzi!
Good rides

Wonderful report Nick....short and sweet. You writing and photos are strong impetus to get me going up north. I'm originally from northern Ont and love the look of this land as well. I definitly don't need the mountains nor exotic vistas to make me smile....we are so close to beautiful terrain.
The beautiful motoguzzi makes the story all that much more. I appreciate your approach of taking old bikes out and actually 'using' them instead being of decorations in a garage.
BTW it's Dave from Kingston ON. You hooked me up with Norm for some BMW tranny work , remember? Would love to have a beer with you sometime. Your solo travels, (trans Lab) have captured my attention and a bit of background headsup info would be great!
Only beginning of January and I've already got to thinking about bike trips : )

Hi Dave - thanks for the kind words. I'd be happy to have a beer with you any time. Just say the word!

Nice short RR! Excellent narrative with good pictures! Your son is a smart fella by claiming the Guzzi now. Once again thanks.

i did this same ride last year. it was really windy east of havre st pierre and i was getting blown all over the width of the road. not much in teh way of windbreaks out that way across the tundra.

That's one of the beauties of that kind of environment. Sometimes it seems benign, sometimes it seems dangerous but its always wild. It makes the ride worthwhile.

Thanks for the RR! Great to see pix & story about vintage motorbike riding. Canada is virtually endless, and beautiful as well. I had the pleasure of riding my modern BMW around in Nova Scotia, then across to Quebec City. We contemplated a route through Baie- St. Comeau, ferrying across the St Lawrence, then riding along the river's north shore, to the city. The clock got in the way- so to speak- or common sense prevailed.....? Well anyway, at the end of it all, we did a straight blast across NB and Quebec to Rivière du Loup then rode upriver the slow way, into the city.

At the end of it all, I decided we'd cheated ourselves.... so we resolved to go back....
Next time, we'll take the Airhead!

Cheers!
