McCarthy

The road to McCarthy is in awesome shape. But be warned the fuel stop in chitnia is no longer selling fuel. Last fuel stop is a Kenny lake. It's an amazing ride have fun.

Talking McCarthy

Hey J&K,

It was nice meeting and chatting with you two in McCarthy. Scooter (the guy on the DRZ400) hit reserve about 5 miles out from Kenny Lake. How did you two do on the gas situation? Did you manage to sneak into the mill?

Yeah we spent a good portion of the day exploring the mine. We had around a gallon left when we got to Kenny lake. It was great meeting you both as well. Drop us a line about d2d.

Very nice meeting you both along the road. MANY thanks for sending a stranger off to DEMO ride your new F8.
You one helluva salesman, BMW will soon owe you commission.
Looking at an F8 in Seward, and also one in Fairbanks.. Dealers are short stock at the moment.
Just put fresh rubber and brakes on the KLR, so I can run a few more weeks on the skinny single
.
You guys get down to Homer, we have guest shack for ya.
Advance notice, we can have beverage waiting as well.
.
Ride long, ride safe.

Ya'll have checked one of the rides I have yet to do. Hoping to do that and Homer this summer. I'll hopefully have El Tigre up this weekend.

gas in Kenny Lake

We were headed to Kennicott on Monday, up from Valdez ... and there was no gas in Kenny Lake.
Be warned.
She said it wouldn't be till the end of this week till she got more.

I bought gas in Kenny Lake yesterday, the 29th. What Full Power said was true. My KLR burrned 4.5 gallons between Glennallen and back, factoring in what I bought in Kenny Lake. No problem for a KLR with 6 gallons.

No gas in Chitina. Confirmed

Guess I should have checked in here before heading out this weekend.
The gas in Kenny Lake should be a bit more reliable in the near future, and they plan to be open from 8am-10pm in another week(currently open til 8pm).

My Hub to McCarthy to Chitina distance generally runs 195 to 210mi., depending on trips to Kenicott, Jumbo mine, Obrien creek ect. From the Hub to McCarthy to Kenny Lake is about 225mi.(for some reason my odo reads 241mi.).
Your distances could be lower if your extremely nervous.
