Honda's NEW 250 DS

Could be competition for the WR?

I too have looked into this bike and maybe one for my wife, but I can't see it replacing my XR. It is only 30 lbs lighter and is down more on power than I thought it would be. If it had been under 300lbs I would have been more interested in it. Going to consider it when the aftermarket catches up with it specificly bigger fuel tank and wolfman racks. It is nice for the money I give that to Honda.

I hear ya, I am not considering it at all but thought it would be a good entry level DS for smaller (under 6') riders.
Any nibbles on the ole' XR?

If I could convince the trails end guys to let me test ride theirs, I could give you a solid opinion vs the WR250R.

Sitting on it and looking at it, I like it a lot. If it had been out when I bought my WR, I'd probably have the Honda due to the price differential alone. Performance wise, I think its more comparable to the now-fuel-injected XT250 and KLX250S than the WRR.

Early reports are it is a little weak on power but that just means typical Honda longevity. We wouldn't have gotten Jr the WRR had it not been a two-year old floor model as price new was WAYYYY too much. Can't imagine it would take a whole lot to make that lil 250 get up n go a lil faster by doing the usual mods. We haven't touched the WRR as far as exhaust, chip, etc as the gains just aren't worth the $$. Runs great, VERY reliable, and if Jr can keep it upright, should last us awhile.

On the downside, my 20yr old daughter has been pestering non-stop for a bike. I keep telling her that as soon as she completes the MSF, I'm willing to talk. Guess what....she just got scheduled. So much for my PFD this year.
