I flattened out the drive gear ring and reinstalled it all properly and will run it as is.

The crack on the wheel hub feels solid and even if it lets loose later it should only take out my speedo.

I installed the new Anakee 2 front tire which for some reason the PO bought a 100/90-19 instead of the 110/80-19 that was originally on the wheel, along with a new tube.

This tire is 10 mm narrower and a tad bit taller.Only .158" taller, to be exact, so pretty much the same height.

Changed out all fluids

Tonight I changed out all the fluids.

I replaced the brake fluid front and rear with LiquiMoly Dot 4.

I used Cummins Fleetguard blue coolant for the cooling system.

And Mobile 1 -15w50 Full Synthetic motor oil.

You are really ripping through that KLR.

When you are done maybe I should drop mine off so you don't get bored

Great maintenance routine! You could set up shop in some warm Latin American country .... and do full services on the dozens of KLR's passing through on their way to Tierra del Fuego!

I'll tell ya ... some of those riders really need to attend an ADV Riders maintenance 101 class! I see so many who forget about the basics:

chains/sprockets/doo hickey's/air filters/cracked/overloaded frames/racks/razor thin brake pads ... and ON and ON and ON.

Hope you get a break in the weather and get a chance to get out and RIDE!

While you're at the maintenance ... maybe have a look inside your fuel tank, clean petcock filter, flush tank. Often overlooked. A clogged Pilot Jet is easy to do ... and many never get them cleaned properly. I carry a spare!

Clear and cold here today in NorCal ... about 45F. I'm going riding!

Bent forks !!!!

I put the front end back together and sure enough the front forks are bent.

I noticed the misalignment before, but was hoping they were just shifted and that after loosening it all and retorqing that it would be ok.But, no such luck.

If you look at the fender and tire you can see the misalignment, they should move together.

Also, I noticed the rear subframe is tweaked to the left a bit, causing the seat to tank fit to be too tight.

I am going to have to pull the rear subframe and front forks back off and replace them.

The PO is a stand up guy, and is going to send me replacement parts.

He swapped ends at 30-40 miles an hour on gravel and didn't realize the extent of the damage.

In the meantime , while I am waiting on parts,I am going to pull the shock off and freshen that up.

UPDATE-After dissassembly and measuring the fork tube runout, the triple clamps appear to be bent instead of the tubes.

After some more research, I have also discovered the stock KLR triples are on the soft side and prone to bending in a hard crash.

That would be a dream job, but I'm stuck here for awhile.LOL.

Probably won't be much of a break in the weather here for a few months, I will just have to keep tinkering in the garage for awhile.

Carb and pilot jet are done.

The 10 gallon Tank is clean.

I am going to eliminate the vacuum diaphram on the petcock.
