BMW flashing license plate brake light question?
Has anyone installed this or had the dealer install this on a 2011/12 Adventure?
Will this light work on the 2011 and the LED taillight. I don't want to run into any fault codes. Headed to my local dealership to day to purchase this for my bike as I like the added rear visibility. Thanks! ************************************************** ***************************** Today's edit- I picked up the LED OEM flashing LED brake light and it works perfect. This is exactly what I was looking for. I like OEM especially when it comes to electrical system add ons. Also recieve a two year warranty from BMW on the product. This LED is nice and bright and have a great quick flicker. Thanks for all replies to my question about this OEM product. I was aware of the others, was only inquiring about this; http://www.ascycles.com/images/produ...rake-Light.jpg

It'll work with the harness adapter sold separately, but for conspicuity there are better products on the market. Skene P3 lights are what I use.

Thanks. Yes, I know about the other products but really want this particular light after riding behind my buddy and seeing how well his works. It was very noticeable.

Want to move those cagers to the OTHER lane?
Quote:
http://www.hyperlites.com/ Have them on my GS... Also have a 4" x 6" Whelen LIGHT HEAD on my RT that achieves the same. Model: 60R00BRR http://www.whelen.com/_AUTOMOTIVE/de...74&prod_id=126 Here's my post over at BMWSportTouring about how to install the Whelen Light Head. "Tastes Great...Less Filling"You COULD adapt for your GS, as well. http://bmwsporttouring.com/ubbthread...rue#Post720620 Much, much more 'conspicuity' than the BMW alternative. Cagers immediately move over to the next lane when approaching me. ![]() Exactly what I want.

Skene led P3/photon blaster really work well, no faults since installation and they really add improved visability.

+1 on the BMW light with hrness sold seperatly.
I have one on an '11 GS, easy to install. The extra taillight and brightness of it is worth it as well. As everyone has stated there may be something better out there. |

Had dealer install one on my RT.
Installed it myself on my S. The CAN bus version doesn't come with instructions; the old style version does. CAN bus installation is described in some forum, perhaps MOA.

Just installed the extra brake light on my 2011 R1200GS Triple Black.
I ordered it from Gregg Templeton @ MAX BMW with proper harness. My local dealer REALLY doubted that it would work and they didn't have it in stock....guess what...it works perfectly!

The first post linked to a picture of what I had installed on my RT a few years ago. BMW Supplemental LED Brake Light. I don't know if they've changed or not, but mine failed after a couple of years due to water intrusion. The failure mode left the LED lights on with the bike off / key out of the ignition. Not good. I've heard of others with the same issue.

Hyperlites
I think Hyperlites should be paying me a commission. After I installed them on my wife's and my bikes several people I know saw them and bought them.
They have been running for 4 years on a couple different bikes now so seem to be holding up well.

Genuine BMW LED brake light- (POS) Piece of sh$t.
I'm on my 3rd Genuine BMW LED brake light in two years. Sold with a two year warranty, parts and labor. But it's cost me $150.00 in labor so far for the 2 replacements. So much for free warranty labor. PM me for complete dealer shaft story.
Don't buy it! Not made for GS's that are actually used off road. Poway screwed with this post 10-08-2012 at 08:11 AM |
