Hola Jhon,
Good to see that you're ready for your spring break.
It was great following your journey, and even better being able to share the road with you, even if it was just for one day.
Suerte y hasta la vista !
Julio

Well John, I have followed your travels every day since you started.

You have done a good job representing our sport and yourself.

You know how small talk is when people say "Have a nice day" and I always respond "I know how".

If your travels bring you to East Tn, coffee and pie would be my treat.

Hi John,

You being a mason by trade, I should have known Brancusi parallels your personal beliefs so well.
Great power of simplicity, as you pointed out doesn't come easy, nor is it for everyone. Proof is in how misunderstood he was at the time with "Bird in Space" as an example. And when they realized it's value many years later, put a high price tag on it. Beyond today commercialization of almost everything, I now see some of the most desirable values in life are allot harder to obtain as they cant be "purchased". To me that means I cant just keep doing what I do and expect that if I save enough, one day I'll be able to buy my way to happiness with money. In fact the tax man makes sure I don't
I keep thinking about your words on discipline required to live minimalist; also finally understand why this is the e-book some of us kept asking you to write. And I hope you will keep writing it.

Best,
Vic

I've been enjoying your report for a few weeks now John. You're an inspiration to us older riders as well. Hope I can make it over that way one day.

Great to meet you the other day John. Really a fantastic laid back dude. Except for the fact that he likes the Ducks.

Later that evening we had a bit too much fun....Got Ya!!

I wish my bike was this low

Alex and Andy of DRZ to South America fame dropped by last night and I joined them outside the Shamrock to catch up on travel stories:

They're having fun here in Medellin. Their friend is flying down for a week so they're hanging out here relaxing. Had fun visiting for a while before they headed off with some wild English/German folks to have some more Saturday night fun. The English guys thought it was quite odd that I wasn't drinking free beer or heading out with them for more reveling. Ah yes, those were the days.

Saludos,
Juanito

Hi Balanda,

Glad to have you along from down under. You can have a lot of fun riding the backroads as long as you have your health. Better get cracking mate. Life is short.

Cheers,
Juan Viejo

Hi TrashCan,

I have been known to take a long detour for good pie and coffee. Will be sure to drop by for a visit in TN next time I'm in the area.

Saludos,

Hola Julio,

It was so nice meeting you and Luisa up in the mountains and down for panqueques. You are better than a GPS when it comes to backcountry riding ideas in Guatemala. Hope to see you down the road soon.

Saludos,
Juanito

Hi MikeMike,

Dozens more since you signed it so many months ago. Although yours is still up there on the top right side near the fuel cap.

Saludos,

Juanito, was the Andy half of Alex and Andy ever through Veracruz?
If so, get him to tell you about the route he did from Papantla to Veracruz.
He looks like one half of Butch and the Kid, a dynamic duo of ADV fun.

Hey John, I've been wanting to ask but I was afraid it might be too personal, but you seem open enough. I know that for myself because I don't drink or use any substances and tend not to openly objectify women very much, people's first reactions are always that I'm some kind of religious nut; but I'm actually as far from a religious person as you can get, I'm a student of anthropology. I'd like to know, are you practicing any religion or are you just an anthropologist at heart?

Speaking of that I picked up an XR out in New Mexico a couple of weeks ago and barely started in on it with the conversion, just can't decide if I want it to have reverse gear or not. Going to be my red little beast for Africa and Russia if I ever get out of SA

I went out to NM to pick it up mainly because of the free swing arm bolt and one of these already

You'll have to come back through in the truck on your way back to Nebraska

Happy Easter. I'd still try to make the trip out to Santa Fe on the Old Rd if you haven't already been, makes for a great day trip outside Medellin. Glad Albert's letting you store the bike at his place
