Dion and the Belmonts...........boy did that bring back memories.
And that '52 Chevy that belonged to my bud's dad. We used to
hot-wire it with a stick of doublemint. I'll leave it to some our
inmates to figure out how we did it.

There are many spanish words that sing, as an example Sendero
which I translate as "sending one on".

Enjoy and keep it coming.

Advford dropped by for a nice visit:

Always fun to shoot the breeze with a fellow ADVrider.

Not much going on in my life right now. I am keeping my shoulder immobilized in a sling and back to one handed typing as it heals. Kind of like watching paint dry.

Saludos,
Tio Juan

Trevor!

All I can say is WOW! Talk about awesome! A Colombian Christmas steam engine with some salsa latino neon outlines.

Now that's South American flair at it's finest. Thanks for the link amigo.

Saludos,

Ten days

It's been about 10 days since your getoff, John, if you accident was on the 12th. I'm predicting some light riding In 10 more, or maybe less, days. The shoulder will heal fast. I broke my tib/fib in Death Valley, and thought my life was over. I was back riding in 6 weeks from my surgery.

.......anyway, it a great opportunity to study your spanish. How's that coming? With your recommendation of Duolingo.com , I've worked my way up to lesson 10.

You were on 11 last I heard, and could be up to 12 or 13 by now....is it helping with communication yet?

I enjoy the hell outta your travels/life. Thanks for taking the time, John.

Spent the afternoon and evening with Chad (left) and Ryan from Calgary Alberta:

They are on KTMs and have been on the road for a few months. Really fun hanging out with them. They came down on the San Blas Ferry and said it was not a bad way to go. I pulled a pic of the ferry landing off their blog at ridetheride.ca

They said it cost 708.00 each for them and the bikes. The next sailing is from Cartagena, Colombia to Portobello, Panama on January 18th (mas o menos).

It is theoretically a 30 hour trip but the initial voyage took 3 days since they were refused landing at the first port they tried in Colombia. Finally landed in Cartagena. The ferry is run by Fritz the crazy German of Fritz the Cat fame. He said he wants to lower prices as people find out about the service.

For more info on the ferry service you can check out sanblasferry.com

Sounds like a good deal to me. The stubborn German just might pull it off. He is getting a lot of flack from the usual sources. Especially the gringo sailboats that stand to lose business. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Just passing along the info.

Saludos,
Tio Juanito

Hi Vic,

Nice to hear from you. I am currently at the crossroads of relaxation and goofing off for the next couple weeks before I can continue on down the roads less traveled.

Your ADVpal,

Hi Fordfixer,

Thanks for the link. The old girl is still plying the high seas. Good to see where that ferry came from.

Saludos,
Juan Marino
