Tio Juanito, I'm heading to Colombia in a couple weeks. It looks like there's a few people here in the Carolina's waiting for you to come over this summer. Do you think you'll be able to make it?

Saludos

John , I want to thank you again for an epic ride report . I really liked your thoughts on what it takes for big time travel . As I am near the end of my 36 years of machining airplane parts , I hope to get in a bit more riding in the near future . I am impressed that you realize the challenges others have to do a big ride . Overall health and mental toughness are a real challenge , even if you get all the other "ducks in a row" . Do not let your head swell , but for me , your RR has moved into the number one spot on my list . I will be following along as the report unfolds . BTW , I was born in Vermillion SD . I ride a WeeStrom and wish to add a DR200 to the stable for the single track . Good luck to you and hope you get a surplus of funding through your labors . Thanks again !

The advantage of ADVrider is that you meet great guys like Tomski who take the time to update your ride report so you can spend more time goofing off. Had a great Memorial day weekend over at Dirt2007's lake house. Fishing, lounging, BBQ and meeting nice Oklahomans.

Following Tomski's tail light through a pounding thunderstorm late last night on the way home reminded me of rainy season riding in Colombia. So that was nice.

Heading down to Texas tomorrow morning.

more later.....

Awesome! Slap looked like fun this year.

Also, that looks like a clean dr350 in that panoramic tomski. Love it.

John et Al, I'm off to India for a couple weeks. Just started a new thread: New Delhi and beyond. I'll post up every couple days.

It’s beautiful down here in NE Texas this time of year where I find myself this week. I had a couple helpers yesterday afternoon:

They get them started early on motorcycles down here. Here is a future ADVrider. Looks like he’s getting ready to pop a wheelie:

There are bikes for all size kids here starting with the CRF50 with training wheels and moving up through KLX250S, DRZ, KLR and 990 Adventure. Might have to go for a ride with bigdon after work today.

Good to hear! I love the Himalayas. I'll be sure to check your ride report.

Have fun!

Hola Ricardo,

Give my best to your family in Colombia. You are lucky to have a good reason to head down there on a regular basis.

I never know how long the jobs I take on are going to last. It may be hard to get out of Texas this year. I can't say. I will make it to the Carolinas. I'm just not sure when.

Have fun in Colombia!

He is going to have to change the name of this Thread now! I don't think that 990 Adventure will qualify as a minimalist moto!

Maybe not, but stealing other folks bikes for a spin is!
